To roll bar or not?

LOL - thank you everyone for your responses.

I have absolutely no desire to add a Metal Tech cage, although admittedly they look great. This 40 will be going up for sale once it is complete, so I would let the new owner decide if he/she wanted a cage. I'm about done spending money on this particular toy!

I do not believe my current rollbar is an OEM rollbar, I'm not sure if it was custom or from a different vehicle.

Regardless, the answer seems to be to go ahead and go with the rollbar.

Does anyone have any indication as to what it would cost to powdercoat a rollbar black? Ballpark guesstimate?

Thanks,
Jonny

I'd just paint it. The next owner won't give you more money for a truck with a powder coated cage... And if they replace it, it would really be money wasted.

If you do not want to make something to use the long seats with the roll bar / cage, SOR has a kit that may work for you... It is just "C" shaped brackets you bolt to the tub and then bolt the seat to the bracket.

That's a simple solution. :hhmm: Wasn't aware they had such kits.

Well, I don't think my rollbar is OEM, and I have the short seats. I will get a picture of the rollbar/seats tonight and maybe someone can let me know the besst route to take :)

Thanks,
Jonny

I ran rear jump seats for a while, The more I ran It off road soon Released I had very little use them. so put the I put the old POs Roll bar in and made attachments for shoulder harness seat belts and used the room to add gas & water can holders.

Mine are folded up most of the time. But they sure come in handy for hauling the kids and their friends around.

OK guys,

This is what I am working with... Thoughts?

I had the same bar with the LONG SEATS and used SOR's "kit" and it worked fine. I had to re drill the bottom mounting holes in the top of the wheel well...

Thank you gentlemen  I am trying to find the kit on SOR's site but not having much luck. Anyone have a link or could show me where this kit is?

Is this it?

Ask pappy if a roll cage is a good idea... I don't know if I can really live without one (grisly pun intended).

Dan

Having spent a brief second or two on my head ... run the damn roll bar. And wear your seat belt. This should not even be a question. Thumbs up to Metal Tech.

As far as welding ... do you belong to a club? There is usually somebody that can help.

OUCH!!:frown:

So Pappy- Aside from the fenders what other damage did you have?

Pete

Both fenders. Both doors, one worse than the other. Windshield frame. Both rear quarters were smashed a little bit. No glass broke.
