Ok here is the Question. I have been building an 63 fj45 short bed for
4 years on and off. Truck is pretty munch done except the bed. I have the
the bed that came on it but it is in bad shape. I also picked up an fj45 long
bed the other day in pretty good shape. So do I sale the long bed and buy
an short bed aluminium one out of Canada. Or do I cut down the long bed to
fit short bed? I don't know if the short beds came with the long bed style. I have seen a couple like this but don't know if they cut them down . The truck
is all Toyota except for an sm 465&203 case to Toyota case. What say ye about this one.

Don't cut down the long bed. They are hard to find in decent shape too.

Buy an aluminum one or see if lomass in Panama makes the short bed.

Mike I was thinking about you when I got this latest bed and was going to let you have it. But I see you bought the one off ebay. Hope you got the tail gate also. The bed I am thinking about cutting is not the one that was on your truck.It is the ulility trailer I bought a couple of weeks ago. Can we still be buds??

were still buds, But don't cup up the long bed, sell it to someone who needs it and buy the Aqualu bed. I did not get the tailgate, that will take me anothe 5 years to find.

Don't cut up a good long bed.

One guy put a late-70s Toy PU bed on an FJ45 and it looked pretty decent. I'd do a custom flatbed if I weren't an all-stock-looking kind of person.

You can probably sell the long bed (if in good enough shape) to pay for most of the alum. short bed. Both beds are very hard to come by. I vote for a no cut.

Don't mean to hijack --- Mike (65-fj45) there was a tailgate with Wagoneer in Texas for sale 6 month back. He is the guy with the cool short bed on the 80 series chasis. He may still have it.

No I said don't make a long bed truck into a short bed truck. I can't make
my short bed into a long bed. Frame is to short .As I tell Rory do as I say
not what I do!!!!!!!!!!

There's a character named Gary from sonoma, you might know him, who has an aluminium SB from aqualu in his back yard right now...... if you want to see their stuff first hand.
I'm pretty biased toward the short beds. They are much better looking than any of the other 45's, IMOP. Stick with the short box.

I have seen that bed and they are very nice. I will probly go that way. Now I have another problem I picked up an 1993 fj 80 that has been rolled. I am trying to talk Rory into putting our other fj45 on this frame and motor and axles. I need to stay off Craig list way to many good deals to be had.
