If you look closely at the TJM light fixture, two of the wires go to the fog light section and one wire goes to the amber side. I assumed that the fog lights two wires attach to the factory two wires left by the factory fog lights in the factory bumper. The other wire just splices into the turn signal power as intended.

To make sure we're talking about the same light set-up, here's a picture of what I received from TJM, along with the installation instructions. As you can see, there is a 3-wire pigtail that plugs into the light fixture. The pigtail has a green wire that is associated with the clear fog light, a black ground wire, and a red wire that is associated with the amber turn signal/parking light.

In my opinion, the green wire would be connected to the positive factory fog light wire, and the black would be connected to the chassis as a common ground. That leaves the ONE red wire to connect to the factory turn signal/parking positive light wiring. Unfortunately, it can only be connected to ONE of the factory wires (EITHER the turn signal wire OR the parking light wire), leaving one of those functions inoperative.

Comparing the provided light setup with the installation instructions, it seems that there should be two separate harnesses: one 3-wire harness (white & brown & yellow, as described in the instructions) for the amber turn signal/parking light, and one 2-wire harness for the clear fog light. Of course, the 2 harnesses could be combined into one 4-wire harness if there was a common ground wire. In any case, the turn signal/parking light requires 3 wires in order to function properly.

Thus, I still contend that something is amiss...if anyone else has done the install, your input is welcome! Also, @Phil Damon, if you can comment on this it would be helpful.

Sorry, those wiring instructions are for the optional LED turn signal/marker light combo that TJM offers.
You are correct on the connections. The green wire goes to the factory fog light positive. The black wire is ground and should tie into the factory white/black stripe wire and the red should be the factory turn signal wire.

@Phil Damon How do we order? Seems hard to find these...

Your best bet would be to call Slee Offroad. They have them in stock ready to ship.
My experience locally- I called off-road warehouse in el cajon, San Diego and they didn’t have a price listing or inventory information and it’s listed as a dealer on tjmusa website.

You can also call TJM direct to order, thats what I did.

I checked online to see what optional lights are available for the T17 but didn't find anything suitable. Can you provide additional info, please? If they are available, do they include a more robust fog light or is there another option for that?

Hmm this or ARB, can’t decide. Does anyone know how much the tjm weigh?

Nvm just saw on the website, says 85lbs

been waiting for a lighter weight simple steel bumper and was pleased to see this thread. I (or I should say, my wife) don't need a super heavy duty bumper or a winch, just something better than plastic. I already have a 4runner for my wheeling machine. I am working on ordering mine today, called tjm, their warehouse is in Carson,Ca.

got my bumper, fit and finish is great. this is a really good design as far as the metal parts go. this isn't a plate bumper but a one piece formed unit with rolled edges and laser cuts. I couldn't be happier. The plastic pop in piece on the top (winch window) needs to be thicker and snap in better (it was popping out and bowing with the sun on it). as far as I'm concerned, the lights are not good enough to use as fog lights(I don't think they were designed to be fog lights) so I did not use the factory fog light wires instead I connected the amber lights(red) to my turn signals and the clear lights(green) to the running lights/ parking lights which is how I think it was intended. I will save the fog light wiring for some quality lights ill add later.

I've put together $85 Chinese bicycles that were welded cleaner than that. Yuck, those welds are scary ugly. That thing would fold up like a cardboard box if you actually bashed anything with it.

Spend a couple dollars more and support the folks supporting us that are welding up mobile steel art here on MUD...

It wasn't about the money, it is about buying what I want for my own reasons. Also, the designer of the bumper(a mud member) and both sales reps that helped me get the bumper live and work right here in San Diego County where I do so I don't see how am I not supporting the folks supporting us.
