Well great. I just found out the Titan will not fit the ARB bumper for the 80 Series. The motor is too long. Guess I'll be selling the winch. Too bad, I loved my last Titan.

So a m8000 does not fit an ARB bullbar for an 80?

- Sent from a very small supercomputer.

I have no clue. They are two different winches. I highly doubt the are the exact same dimensions .The Titan does not fit.

in previous instances, folks have used spacers and front mounting to fit bigger winches IIRC. Would that not work?

It is mounted feet forward. What did they use for spacers?

don't recall. Probably doesn't matter much, although I would use flat bars or very large washers rather than small washers, and not soft metal either. IIRC, they only needed a small bit of spacing, like 1/4 in or so for the winches in question (forgot, maybe 9.5XPs?) but a search will reveal all.

If you are having the same problem as the HF 12k winch fitment, what I did was go to a welding shop and have them cut some spacers out of 1" s-c-r-a-p metal. I also had them drill holes (centered) through the spacers to save me the work. Cost me $20. I recommend painting the spacers before you install to help prevent rust:

You can sell it to me as I didn't have the funds disposable at the time of the group buy. Seriously.

Or does anyone know if Titan would still cut a break for a Mud member?

If Mr. Wood doesn't buy it I probably will. I'm pretty sure that if you contacted Duncan he would work with you on the price. I contacted him 3-4 mints prior I the GB and he offered me a similar price.

Payment sent to fireguy for the Titan package! Can't wait to get this on the 100 series! Now someone just needs to set up a nice group buy on some nice drawers for the back, hurry up OregonLC :)

Dude, you are going to love the winch. I used it for hours the other day pulling trees (that I couldn't put my arms around) off of some private roads.

I showed the pics of the internals to my FIL and he couldn't believe how stout it all appears! Thank goodness there's a newer diehard platinum to wire it too. MT sliders arrived this afternoon. They'll be on soon enough :)

Same issue with bolt length for me too. I picked up four 40mm M10 1.50 Grade 10.8 bolts at the hardware store for $4.50 and was good to go. If my winch rips off, it will be because I was using it as a bungee jump for my truck.

Ditto, the forces being exerted on the winch are more than likely horizontal. The feet on the TW12 look pretty stout, I would only think the weak point would be the bumper mounting plate thickness and bumper mounting hardware used, not forgetting to get the best grade 11 bolts out there to mount the winch to the bumper.

I may pick one up here soon!

hi folks, resurrecting an old thread because i'm slowly gettin sold on the tw12 after some researches. i know it's only been a couple months but how's everyone enjoyin their new tw12 winches?! mud is a very warn 8274 crazy site (i mean just look at the winching/recovery section and all the pics) and i really haven't heard too too many long term reviews on this winch... i've read talks on gettin an old 8274 and rebuilding it, or that vs the m8000, and now the tw12 is in the picture...with what seems like robust pieces/construction and good R&D and offcourse, awesome service from the friendly folks at titan.
can anyone comment? the long term plan is for a custom bumper and have this winch sit nice and high and ready to work!
cheers.

I have used mine roughly 20 times. Everything from pulling large trees out of the way on trails, pulling people out of mud holes, pulling myself up moss covered rock ledges, assisting with friend's high-centered rigs, you name it. It has also been completely submerged in mud and water on a few occasions. It pulls quickly and confidently every time,.. even when I was loaded down with 5 passengers (all guys weighing north of 225 lbs) and buried up to the frame in mud.

I did take my time and extend the runs for the solenoid, move said solenoid into the engine bay (in front of the air filter on my 100), run the the solenoid-to-remote connector inside the cabin, re-seal the solenoid housing with Automotive Goop, and use copious amounts of dialectic grease wherever possible, but I would give the winch high marks regardless of these modifications. I would not trade it for a brand new M12000 or 9.5XP if that tells you anything. I also love the synthetic line as it is extremely lightweight and easy to work with. Finally, the wireless remote is a huge convenience when doing my own rigging. Time will tell...

EDIT:

Also, if you want a long-term review, shoot Brock a PM. He has had a couple over the years.

^ thanks! awesome to hear! i also just read the chit chat on the "warn loosing it's luster" talk and the whole debate with the made in china perception vs local, etc..yata yata. i'd like to at least make a very informed and practical decision based on simple facts and experiences.

got any vids of you pullin just for kicks?! sounds like a sweet mod you did too!

Is this sale over?

I just stalled out a 12k Milemarker Hydraulic somehow... Going to need a winch for the back of the truck.

Zombie thread bump - anyone know if these winches are still around?
The original link goes to a welding shop now.

I emailed Duncan but thought I'd ask here anyway.
Any long term reports?

Mine lasted about 5 years. Used it a few times and it never failed until last year. Not sure what died but wiring and fuses all checked out but it was just dead as a hammer. Anyhow, I do feel I got my money's worth out of it. That being said I put a M12000 in as a replacement this time around. Kept the Dyneema line off of the old Titan just to have around. It still looks as good as day one.
