Just wondering how important the outside temperature differential convey to tire pressure my understanding is that your tire pressure normally goes down by one psi for every 10° change in temperature either up or down so my question if you live in Florida you aired up to 45 pounds when it’s 60° out yeah had up north when it’s 30° out this a big deal should you be concerned? When the tires get warmed up on the road the temperature reading goes back up to 45 range

Tire pressure specs are designed for tires that are at ambient temperature - no other temperature matters.

For example, for tires with a Recommended Cold (at ambient temp - not driven on for at least 4 hours and not sitting in the sun) Tire Inflation Pressure of 40psi:

- If the outside air temp is 80 DegF and the tires are cold (i.e. 80 DegF) tire pressure should be set to 40psi.

- If the outside air temp is 30 DegF and the tires are cold (i.e. 30 DegF) tire pressure should be set to 40psi.

If you know you will be driving into a colder climate the same day, then you could set your tire pressure higher (in the warmer climate) by about 1psi/10DegF ^T , but generally it is enough to simply adjust tire pressure in the mornings while driving through different climates.

Hey @gaijin

I really appreciate all your info here.

I'm running the Kumho Crugen HT51 in LT275/70r18 (load E rating, 125/122R)

I've been at 41psi driving from sea level to 6200' in the winters, and wanted to confirm this is correct. Thanks.

I searched the thread and haven't seen the correct cold tire pressure recommendation for these yet so I thought I would ask.

Falken Wildpeak A/TW3 LT285/60/20

The Recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure for the LT275/70R18E 125/122R Kumho Crugen HT51 tires on your 2016 LC200 is 41psi F/R.

This pressure is at ambient air temperature with cold tires.

Since tire pressure (gauge pressure) increases with an increase in Elevation, if you set your tires at Sea Level they would indicate (gauge) about 3psi higher at 6,000 feet above Sea Level. This is a negligible increase unless you experience a dramatic drop in temperature at 6,000 feet. If the drop in temperature at 6,000 feet is >30 DegF, then you should adjust (increase) your tire pressure to 41psi when your tires are cold.

Here's a great article on TireRack.com that explains what I am trying to say better than I can:

Based on your previous posts, I'm guessing you have a 2008 LX570, right?

And I think you mean the ISO-Metric 275/60R20SL 115T Wildpeak A/T3W tires, right?

If both of those are correct, then the Recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure for the 275/60R20SL 115T Wildpeak A/T3W tires on your 2008 LX570 is 30psi F/R.

Sorry if I sound like a jerk, but without accurate info I need to do some searching to find out exactly what you need.
