Does anyone have any tips or pointers in restoring a horn button off of FJ40 steering wheels?

Good fuse in fuse box? start at the horn and make sure it actually works. Test the wiring back to the relay with a meter and then to the fuze panel then work up the steering column to the horn switches. The steering column is the hard part.

Great topic.. not sure if this was covered earlier but what is the white paint to use for horn and other buttons?

Get a headlight restoration kit at Walmart... once buffed and polished take and paint w white enamel paint or a white sharpie. Don’t worry about edges. After painting wait about 1 minute. Don’t worry. Then take a 100% cotton t-shirt stretched TIGHT across small flat piece of wood like a palm sized piece of 2x4 and with barely damp MINERAL SPIRITS slide across it several times until paint on flat surface comes off. Anyleft over dry paint will hand buff off but don’t leave it too long. (leaving paint in recess) Wait another couple of minutes and hand buff with clean soft rag. This will get you the most professional job possible. Do knobs this way as well. This works on hard plastic and Bakelite etc. pm me if you need further help. Don’t use a toothpick or small paint brush. Looks crappy and amateurish.

oh and the quick easy thing..... pull the horn relay ( on the passenger fender by the coil, just follow the wire back to it) pull it off and clean the terminals and put it back.
