Saw this cruiser parked in town. It had a 6.9K asking price on the window. It also said that he had bough ti in 2003 with 75k and has dealer receipts for all services. The frame is rust free I did not notice any major leaks. Obviously 6k is too high IMO, I was thinking of getting him to settle at 5K. thoughts? Is 365,000 mi a complete turn off? Im lusting for another 100 but 6K is beyond my range (there are others with less miles available for 6 k)........

2000 Toyota Land Cruiser

Get it checked out by Toyota or a reputable Cruiser mechanic...at the very least try to get a compression and leak down test done. Visual inspection of everything else should suffice...oh and any records for timing belt change will be great.

Just plugged the details into NADA's guide and clean retail for Denver for a 2000 LC w/ 365k was $9,675, clean trade-in was $6,875 and average trade-in was $5,625. If NADA is used in your area, then they are asking just over average trade in.

Still can't believe the value on these old rigs. Anyway, FYI. They might settle around $5.5k but always good to negotiate.

I payed 6k in Iowa for my slightly rough 223k 1999. If it is really clean and truly rust free than if I were you I would really consider it for 5k ish no more than 6

I offered this guy less than asking price months ago. I wanted just for bragging rights of high millage....LOL. He was very proud of it and wouldn't come down. I've since purchased and LX, but have watched him steadily drop price. If it is as clean as he says, I'd pay him $6 less any repairs it needed like -$300 for drive seat lower cushion. I'd make conditional on a Slee Off road inspection, with add compression check.

Hold him to his word on the maintenance and have him provide records or see if they are on carfax. I looked at a couple around town that stated they were well maintained, but the owner could not provide records. A couple of others had rebuilt salvage titles and one had a blown transmission show on the carfax. Sidenote, all the LC's I looked at were well above bluebook/nada.

It does look cherry from underneath. I can see that he is proud of it, that is still a ton of miles though.

The drivers seat is a good bargain point, not sure I can get around to having Christo once over it or not. i do know that it would a good idea though.

Out of curiosity what did you offer him? Were you able to drive it? Thoughts?

I must have deleted emails & texts with him, and honestly I can't remember what I offered. I never drove or even inspected, as we were to far off on price. I'll say this; I found people have different ideas of what maintaining is. To me it's everything and more then schedule maintenance guide states. For some it's taking to JeffyLub when they remember. Inspect and verify everything. These rigs are tanks and like to be driven. His miles suggest average trip miles where high , which I prefer to short trips or not driven. Offer a price you can live with and no more, lots of fish in the sea as they say.

I think there's a 99 on CL with like 172k that looked pretty clean, priced around $7200. Ad says something about selling it to pay for college, I'll see if I can find it when I get home. It might be under Colorado Springs.

Toyota land cruiser

Hmm this one has a locker...

This guy said;

"The drive line needs to be replaced". I didn't respond so the he said

" you still interesting?"

I asked what on the drive line needed replacing. He said " Google it!". So I said;

"Drive line is vauge, there are many components. The drive line is everything from the crankshaft to the wheel bearings. That's why I ask."

No response.

See if Frank will do an inspection and advise you on this "drive line replacement"...

Sounds like a bad communicator, and his description on CL is poor. He's probable speaking about propeller shaft/spider joints. "Jiffy Luber". He'll run off lots of buyers and end up keeping or selling for ~$4.

Wow... seller with an attitude... the car has been for sale for a while, so something isnt quite right - price too high, has some problems, bad seller description...etc or maybe all of the above. I would find out what exactly need to be replaced and adjust the offer accordingly. Regardless, I would start the offer lower than $5K :D

Agree with what @2001LC said above. You may be able to get this one for cheap if the seller keep running off potential buyers.

Out in SoCal.

365k miles may be a turn-off for some. For others it's an opportunity to save some cash and wrench. Not always the case , but if you spend $5k or less on a vehicle you're most likey going to be fixing stuff.

182k miles. $7200. Something's wrong with that front end. It shouldn't be that low.
