Those Ramchargers were pretty neat, back in
1974!
Wiki:
1978 was the last year for the 440, which by then only put out 215 horsepower.
When I worked for Tank Automotive Command, Warren, MI, in
1980 I got an inspection tour of a dump truck at a Dodge subcontractor (Army required extensive welding of bed versus consumer version +
OD Green).
Same shop was converting Dodge trucks for Saudi Arabia = flareside bed instead of modern Dodge look.
By the way, in 1980 the Dodge Truck Plant was putting out NADA, a square mile of empty, gravel staging area. The only thing I saw come out of the plant was vans. Bell Tel (remember them?) was taking them across the street to a subcontractor to have repainted & work racks installed.
3 out of 4 new car dealerships on every corner were closed.
Detroit Free Press ran a Chevy dealer's ad:
Buy a new Blazer, get a free Chevette! UAW had bang up days for unemployed members on Fridays: Come on down to Union Hall & bash a Corolla with a sledgehammer for relief! I was driving a 78 dual cab, dualie Toy pickup I'd just traded my 77 FJ55 for.
The
Good Old Days just keep comin' back around . . . in 28 years we'll laugh at the 2007-8 gas prices . . .
I had a contract out for bid on 2
6WD Fluorescent Orange Garbage Trucks for the DEW Line. Let me know if anyone's seen one since. Maybe

would LET ME have one as a TOY in the backyard?
