Thinking about giving the truck a fresh coat of paint once my tax refund comes in. Depends on how much it is.

I like the idea of a "gunmetal gray" color. Or a two tone blue and beige.

As for finish, I would like not matte, but not shiny, if that makes sense. I would also like it to be "scratch resistant." Most of the wheeling here leaves me with crazy pinstripes. I have seen a 60 done up in a paint that they use on oil rigs that was supposed to be scratch resistant.

If anyone has any input or advice (or photos), let me know.

Search Monstaliner. Tons of threads on it. Also search Dingo. I'm monstalining my 80 this spring when it warms up. Spend the rest of your tax return on a bumper or something else cool. :)

I have looked into monstaliner. Its more of a bed liner. I am not crazy about it.

Then I got nothing for ya... Good luck.

If you want any real scratch protection, a liner job is your only real option IMHO. Here's mine

Paint is called Commercial Imron fron DuPont. I painted my 60 with that stuff. Its what they paint oil rigs, bridges etc with.
Dont trust the your eyes if you pick a color from their color brochure. Remove the color square from the white background and it will
look like a different color. I picked a nice light green and it turn out to be pond scum green. Had to repaint it. I liked the Imron primer grey so they mixed it up for me. The people at Imron must be sniffing the paint as their idea of grey is actual green as you can see in the pic.

If you paint it your self, paint out doors and with respirator as the paint is very toxic. I got a ticket for running a red light right after painting the 60. I was so high that I didn't know that I needed to stop for the red light. I even saw the cop at the red light and still drove through it. The guy that mixed the paint for me came from the paint mixing room and just stared at me holding the can of paint. I finally asked him if that way my paint? He jumped and said "I should of wore a respirator". The worst part is its the hardener that is the toxic stuff.

Cant say how durable the paint is as I sold the 60 after stole the 80 from my wife.

You want a semi gloss paint.

Dangit! Someone said Imron already! Seriously my buddy and I painted his civic in red(Orange) and on a hot day the paint will "heal" itself of any deep scratches...and it hurts out well.

Stupid iPhone auto correcting me... Buffs out well! Not Hurts

The "not shiny" request will be impossible to keep if you have to buff out scratches. So, virtually any paint or clear coat combination will work as long as the top coat is heavy enough to sand/and or buff out. I'm partial to base/clear coat.

If you paint it your self beware of moisture. It was a dry day when I painted the 60 but for some reason after painting the roof, water appeared, puddled up in on the paint and left the roof looking like it rained right after I painted it. This did not happen to the hood. It almost looks like I added some sort of texture to the roof.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I have a connection with a guybthat does paint. I'm gonna look into imron and I got samples from monsta. I'll prob buy it and have him.put it on if I end up deciding to repaint.

There are at least two types of imron that I know of, one it car paint and other is commercial paint. For off road you want commercial.

Mine is a two tone 2AB - I need to reverse it - paint it 1A6 MoonGlow Pearl all over.

Satin matte is not quite shiny, not quite matte. 3M makes a clear film you can lay down over the paint; Andrew St. Pierre White has it in one of his videos. Don't know that I'd mess with Imron.
