"The selling dealer tells us that the 4.0-liter 2H diesel inline-six was rebuilt as part of the refurbishment. Work performed between April and May 2025 included replacing the head gasket and lifters, adjusting the valve clearances, and installing a replacement valve cover gasket, intake manifold gasket, and fuel filter as well as changing the oil and the coolant."

Um "Rebuilt"? So new filters and gaskets plus a valve lash adjustment is a rebuild! Seems odd they replace lifters but did nothing for the cam, maybe they mean rockers. I change the shafts and rockers on my engine because #1 E world pivot on the axis - shaft had a big wear patch on the oil grove slits in the bottom of the shaft.

Smart move.

This site and the classifieds are a great place to find a good truck. Beware of BAT sellers, ebay, etc and stay away from SA trucks in general, unless you can go see it, or otherwise verify.

Look at builds from @wngrog (so much good info in his threads), and the trucks he and @Meshal have imported are a good starting point for an education. Honest people that know what to look for, and what to bring in. Good luck with your search, but personally I'd contact them with what your desires are and see what they have to say.
Fortunately, live right near Griot‘s garage, so I checked this particular one out in person. Nothing about it seemed odd to me. Though I’ve never owned an FJ in my life, it passed all the sniff tests as a good vehicle in general.

I got underneath it because I know the bedliner spray was kind of suspect, and it didn’t look too crazy underneath there. I just looked like any truck that was driven for its life

Yeah, I’m not sure why they pimped this out to what it was, Griots garage is a pretty reputable business

That’s a pretty truck!
And ready to rip! Such a good truck. There's a build thread if you want to know what all has been done. I would love to own it (or a diesel 45) but one cruiser is enough to keep me occupied.

Seriously, if I was in the market for a rare LC now, I would be contacting @wngrog and @Meshal

I'd never own a 2H. Absolute turd that will kill you if anything fails. I just had to get a head for one from Yemen for $3500

Jesus.

@svsisu, thank you for the comment.

@NismoR32 My recommendation would be go for the fzj75 that nolen has, it is in the USA land, you can try it anytime you want, there is a thread about it, and I have more documentation when I got it before shipping.

if you still wanting an FJ45, I can find you one but it must be patina. If i found one, I will only recommend rebuilding the engine here then ship it to Nolen to upgrade it for you.
When met @wngrog and saw his projects in person, I found it very unique to have a patina truck built by him.

I stumbled upon an fj45 Troopy restoration and it takes time and effort to make it true fj45 again. A good example of a patina truck was our friend @DickM, he came with a clear desire “I want a patina FJ45” I told him I can’t grantee good bed but Allah led us to this original patina with pretty good bed.

Two guys who know Land Cruisers inside and out, and are as honest as they are knowledgeable. My experience with them was fantastic.

Interesting choice.
I can find a whole 2H engine here in the UK for less than half that.
If I was spending that money I'd be looking for a 1HZ or HDT.
2H still seems widespread in Australia so parts aplenty.
H on the other hand is much more elusive...
