Broke the old lower housing on my 1F. Dug a replacement up, then realized there was a difference.
A water temp connection was missing on the replacement.

SOR doesn't show any housing with a side 'hole'. Any idea what model this is from?

Do you think JB Weld might hold in this application?

should have asked...any idea how/where to connect the sensor fitting if I can't find the right housing?
Its a 15mm

Are the pics of the broken one, or the "dug up" one? The one pictured seems to have a crack in the casting at ~11-o'clock.
Appears the temp sender goes right into the brass(?) fitting on the left side.--I think it's the "blue" one

the pics are of the broken...the clamp is holding the JB Weld 'fix'.

tomorrow I'll see if the sensor just might ft into the stock sensor fitting at the upper rear of the engine...

1970. Its dark, and my memory is too,

Is there a second fitting next to the water temp fitting? Saw a comment that indicated there might be...

There is no fitting. Here are the correct thermostat housings for your truck.
Good news is new one is still available.
Bad news is it is hard to get. I just ran a database search, and I see one in stock at Auto Nation Toyota in Tempe AZ. Alternatively, if you can wait I have a few coming into stock early next week.
Part # for the lower housing is 16331-60040.

Thanks, but I think I'll connect it to the heater hose outlet. I disconnected the heater...no top, no use for the heater

In general, I strongly suggest anyone with a thermostat housing problem to replace the housing with a new one if that part is a available. I can see this part becoming discontinued in the not too distant future, and then we will all have use JB Weld to keep the car going!

I have a bunch of good used ones.

Without tearing the shop up I managed to round up 8 of the later '70s housings. Four are the single sensor type. Lower housing without the switch $75. I have one with a good thermo switch still attached. Switch $40 extra with purchase of the lower housing. LMK.

DO NOT TOSS THOSE OLD , WORN HOUSINGS - they can be welded and I've repaired a lot of old , NLA housings here . Broken ones can be fixed , but it takes machining to make them seal/work correctly so the cost does go up a lot , but still cheaper than new .

Word. When I got my TIG gun, one of the first things I tried was repairing a badly corroded FJ25 thermostat housing. After filing the weld down, it was like brand new. I didn't NEED to repair it, as I have plenty of good ones to sell. But it didn't seem like good cruiser karma to give up without trying.

Amen . When there is no new old stock , reproductions or used parts left to be had - the welder can rescue nearly anything . I've fixed stuff that is well over 50yrs old here quite a bit , Harley original cast engine and trans housings being the worst so far - they absorb oils like nothing else due to the casting itself . Saved 2 factory race engines already - have one very rare Sprint factory racing head left to repair from a , um - incident .
Needless to say , evidently they used sodium-filled valves or something , those pieces in the head were a real bi*tch to remove and weld the holes up ...intake side pinhole left to do , as well as some slight mod work ...lol .
