Okay, haven't posted on this thread in a while but a couple of things have come up that I would like opinions/help on. I removed the hood liner/insulator in order to get at the windshield washer nozzles and this is what I found. Is this typical? It seems to me that this "stuff" wasn't an OEM application. Any ideas what it might be? I've tried to clean with a mild cleaner and it wasn't phased. It isn't tacky and feels smooth. I don't think it's any thing to worry about but I was curious if others had encountered the stuff.

Also, is there a trick to removing the washer nozzles? The nozzle fits into a retaining spring washer of sorts, as hopefully you can see in the photos, and they are pretty stubborn. I'm just short of using brute force which is something I know I will regret so any input might help. Thanks...

That brown stuff just looks like rust proofing

I think you squeeze the plastic tabs in and push up. The whole lot comes out as a complete assembly.

It's a QLD modification plate.
When something is changed like bucket seats or fitting a turbo your required by law to have engineer inspect the modified vehicle then fit the blue plate for registration.

Well we need to keep the government happy.

Well in this case the engineer would pocket $600 to a $1000 for a quick look and then sign of on the plate. Don't worry about the government they have many ways to tax us downunder.:)

Move to Georgia ... We don't even need headlights. :)

Thanks for the input! It's nice to know it isn't a can of worms.

Hello Eman375,
As if you need more confirmation, that goo is indeed a rust-prevention material. I believe it is called 'Tectoil', although i am certain there are other brands. Expect to see more of it elsewhere on your Ozzie beastie. A damn nice one, by the way.

Thanks. There is no such thing as knowing too much about these vehicles and I learn something everyday. Would you happen to know when it is applied? It doesn't appear to be something that happens in the factory. I wonder if it is applied upon import to Australia. Thanks for your input. Cheers!
