if the later is true the government must have been driving a moke.

Eman375, i can only guess at where it's applied, and my guess is as follows: wherever rust is most likely to happen. I used to read 'Australian 4WD Monthly', and every once in a while i'd pick up little bits of relatively useless information. You unwittingly handed me an opportunity to appear informed.
When i got the bodywork done on the Troopie, some type of greasy goo was applied at the places where the sides of the vehicle meet the roof (where moisture could sit and wait), in the bottom of where the body sides end (same reason, and both inside the vehicle, but out of sight, although you find it when you are adding wiring); i'm certain there are others, but that gives you some idea, and i hope it it helps.

The goo was an add on in alot of cases from the dealership like scotch guard fabric protection or flashy floor mats and a bonnet protector.
Aftermarket car detailers had specials - Fabric/rust spray/tint etc was popular in the 80s.
Most of the population here are no more than 2 hours from beach.

Billy (and others),
No more than 2 hours form the beach? You fortunate bastards...i'm not more than 2 minutes from freezing my nipples off (-25C yesterday and today). Take advantage of it while you can.

I love the cool sea breeze most afternoons while enjoying a cold beer but sharks live in the ocean and there got humans on the menu this year downunder. I love the scenery on most Australian beaches.

We have equally lovely babes in Canada. It's just that, at this time of the year, it's hard to tell with all the layers of clothing on. No joke, i've been outdoors and couldn't even tell if the bundle of clothing i was looking at contained a male or female humanoid underneath.

Yeah I understand what your saying I went Europe in winter snow boarding and it was freezing -25c. I was smoking back then and had to put 3 layers of gear on for a quick smoke. :smokin:

Worse i've seen was three consecutive days at -55C, northern Ontario. Honestly, it was intimidating.
