Hello, my name is Dean...and I'm an FJ4- and 60 addict. My dabble turned addiction started here a little over 3 years ago. My son and I have very much enjoyed Marion (our 40) and Jenny (our 60).

As the 40 and 60 have pretty much been sorted out, and being a glutton for projects, we have kept our eyes open for a 45.

Then this listing came up. @kevos37 bought this spring green one with a green 63 LWB coming up for sale from the same seller. Kevin was kind enough to put me in touch with the seller. My wife and I flew out to Redding, inspected it and struck a deal.

We could have had it shipped but what fun would that be? The last several weeks, my son and I have been planning our trip from San Antonio, TX to Redding, CA. We ultimately decided to make a near 2 week road trip out of it. We have a 17 foot 7000# trailer that we are pulling with our Dodge Ram 2500. We have a tent that is made to fit in the bed of the Ram. We have planned stops at different KOA's along to way with plans to do alot of sight seeing and talking around camp fires at night.

Our first leg is from SA to Tucson. Second day is Tucson to Vegas. Las Vegas has been on my son's bucket list. We are hauling a scooter with us so the plan is to park the truck and trailer at the KOA and then get out into the town on our scooter.

We then go from Vegas to Coleville CA, Coleville to Redding. Then Redding down to Sutter to meet up with @kevos37. From Sutter to Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe to Salt Lake City to spend a 1/2 day at the LC Museum. SLC to Ouray, CO. Ouray to Durango. Durango to ABQ. We plan to spend some time in ABQ cruising around to different Breaking Bad sites. ABQ to Lubbock then Lubbock home.

Of course, there will be tons of pictures and I hope to be updating daily as ultimately I want this to serve as a sort of diary that my son can look back on in the future.

The party starts at 4am CDT this Saturday. Nothing like driving on the open road watching the sun rise with loved ones.

And...we’re off.

That's awesome, my son graduates today and I wish I had more trips like this under our belt. Enjoy my friend!

Watched “It” in the middle of the night—pretty cool in a tent while camping. After a good nights sleep, a quick scooter ride over to Waffle House to fuel up, it’s off to Vegas, baby!!

p.s. the pictures of the 45 will be coming soon as this will ultimately become a build thread.

Heck 45 will be here soon enough, keep sharing the family pics! Brings up fond memories of my 10 year old son and I driving back from Brownsville TX to NW Colorado. Lots of Soda and BBQ!!

Did you go through Pahrump and visit the spot where Martians landed?

You can take the boy outta Texas but can’t take Texas outta the boy...this was where he wanted to eat in Lone Pine, Ca.

I just noticed he is wearing the hat we bought him when we went up to Redding to inspect the 45. We flew in and out of San Francisco.

BTW, my brisket is much better. And this was some good brisket.
