Why not dtill+tap the bottom of the frame and make a flange? Leaves eveything in compression then.
It will be in compression . The reason i cant bolt to the bottom of the frame is the Skid actually sits just a little past the center of the frame . i could make some crossmembers and countersink some bolts and bolt to those. The only issue is its possible that this may get scratched and those bolt heads get deformed and then a pain to remove . The more i think about it though i do like the idea of making a internal skeleton per say and bolting it to that .

Here are some pics of when I was making a templet. In a perfect world it would be flat across the bottom and Peas would be able to sleep . Unfortunately I decided to build a 40 🤦🏻‍♂️. And there just is not the real estate that you need . Could I cut a hole in my floor and relocate my gas tank . Yes . But then you can explain to Elsie that she is not going because we took up he space . Also I made this with the Orion t case in mind and that rear brake hangs down . The plus is the Atlas hangs down just a little so it worked out . It does appear that I will need to cut a notch in the front of the plate for front driveline clearance. Not a big deal . The Orion front output was more forward than the atlas . Right now it’s all in the set it up and look phase. How do I want to make my crossmembers 🤔 how do I want to attach the skid 🤷‍♂️ do I get it chromed or just get a can of spray chrome 🤩. That is more what I am worried about 😎

No way. Elsie has to go, she has the credit card, obviously.

If I was to to do everything over I would strongly consider a 1 inch body lift . Just so I could tuck things up a little more . Unfortunately at this point I am way past that as my cage and everything would be affected. So we just have to work with what we have . 3 years ago I just was hopeful this thing would go 10mph . It has changed a little since then

Now DJ has me thinking 🤔. I could drill some say 1 inch holes and weld a tube in to recess the bolts from the bottom 🤷‍♂️.

And just like that a plan is hatched . I will make 2 crossmembers . That way I can or can not attach a rear TMR mount to the Atlas ( we won’t tell anyone so there will be no controversy 🫣. Then I will make some pads that I weld to the bottom of the skid. And drill a hole large enough for a bolt head and a socket 🤩 to fit in . Then cap the top pad and drill a smaller hole so just the bolt will fit through . These will then bolt into the crossmembers . The weight bearing will be on the skid and the bottom of the frame in compression. The crossmember will just be holding the skid up .

That's what I was about to type lol. Flange to the inside, and add access holes to the side to get to the bolt. It's how mine is designed. No way to get the bolt head with a rock, but it a pretty hard place to get to it with the bottom of the skid there anyways.

After taking my atlas in and out at least 8 times 🤦🏻‍♂️. And thinking to myself how much I could get on marketplace for this 40 🤷‍♂️. I decided to see if my new steering wheel would fit. Or would i have to engineer/ fab/ reinvent the earth like every other piece on this thing 🙄. I think that was the easiest things I have done to this to date 🤩.

Unfortunately it appears as if I will have to get the cable shifters we were unsure if the mechanical would work . But they won’t Not a huge deal just a deal

IMG_8808.jpeg

Also I appears as if my front drive line will work and I will not need to notch the skid 🤷‍♂️. We will see after I flex everything out. But this could be the start of good things

IMG_8809.jpeg

After a little more scientific research and some contortions I think I can actually make the shifters work 😳. Just going to have to do a little cutting and bending

Got the crossmember made. This has not been the easiest thing but we are close . The tabs I have will work on the drivers side but are to short for the pass side due to having to make the drop for the driveline . So Elsie got out her art kit and got to work . I will get these waterjetted out and I think this will put an end to this project 🤩.

While i wait for my Mounts to be cut . and Drivelines to be made i switched gears and started hooking up the dash . When i ordered my Atlas t case i wanted it as short as possible so i got it without the Speedometer port . Then i got to thinking how neat it is that i have a stupid expensive Dash that does not work . So today i called them and ordered the GPS speedometer for it . . Whats next AC and Cruise Control ?

Wait what?!? Elsie doesn’t have AC?

I’m sure Elsie wants AC.
