Rears weren't extended yet but the same length as I did in front will be perfect. Yup he got a forklift awhile back. Comes in handy! I have the scissor lift and he has the forklift. Im still likely going to need something interesting for the rears. Unless I can get my exhaust moved over a touch. Going to order up some shocks tomorrow.

I swapped out my fuel tank. the pickup tube kept getting clogged up and when I looked in.. It had layers of rust.. would NEVER have cleaned up.
Upon inspection, here's a pic:

The new (old.. got it from someone scrapping a 60) tank I cleaned out, looked like this.. damn near new:

I sprayed the tank with rust seal so I'll never have issues from the outside. Figured it would be easy to do now..

I replaced my filler neck since it was hard as a rock. Used some heavy duty novaflex hose I got, http://www.novaflex.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idProduct=2064&idCategory=101 And blew all my lines out.

Now she :steer: and doesn't die! Reliable fuel system.. Where have you been all my life!

Shocking!

I got my shocks in (Bilstein 5125's) and started getting my hoops mounted. Time to get some real progress on this project! I tig welded everything.. Man it took a while. Always looking for a tiggy reason :p Also for the gussets, I used my buddy's joint jigger to get a tight fit on the 1.5" hoop. I cut each at 50 deg angles and it saddled the hoop nicely. I've seen some not use gussets and some do them out to the side, but I went centered. These things will definitely never come off. Now that the front is done, I need to see how I want to do the back. I got 10" for the rear so they can be more vertical. Got a lot to do the rest of the week so I probably won't be able to start the rear shocks until this weekend.

You know the axle swings forward right?

I thought you were gonna have the shocks above the axle?

So finally got back at it, took it to move the exhaust over since it right under the rear shock mounting point. Made up my axle mounts and burned them on and mounted up the shocks. Hopefully this fall I'll get some good progress on this puppy.

Took an axle perch, cut it in half and then shortened the bottom, opened the hole and used a 5/8 bolt and tig welded it on.

I still need to clean up the rear axle and paint it. :bounce:

Right on Dave! I need to keep the momentum while I have it. lol

@GLTHFJ60: Not yet, nothing more than around the neighborhood and all. Need to get the back side glass back in and get it inspected.. then I can do a good shakedown.

nice shop! cements too nice for my leaker. and she'll flex out more once the springs are worked in a little. do you have a trac bar?

So I got sidetracked with a million other projects.. Also got an 80 with lockers and fixed it up a bit. Time to get back on this puppy! Need a good front bumper and work on the electronics and snag some cool LEDs.

Better hurry! I'll have my drive train swapped and new cage built before yours is on the dang road.

No doubt Trent! Sad since all the hard stuff is done. I just needed to get back in it.

@freepowder Thanks man! That is nice. I am torn on that one, a TAG one, ARB, and of course rolling my own.
