Chuck dont you think you should com epick the parts up before you count them? Dont count your chickens as they say.

Ahh I knew I forgot somethin JP...your wise wisdom is greatly appreciated in the destruction of the 40. I figured my word was good enough Rico...you do remember the parts I have held for you don't ya....lol.

The Official date is Feb. 18th I'll have drinks and such...sorry nothin fancy like Lynn's Chili....it'll be sandwiches....if someone has a coffee maker can ya bring it...I don't drink it that often to have one...but if you'd like coffee can someone bring theirs....

ok gotta go to work there will be more.

I dont recall you holding any parts for me Chuck, I did get that carb from you but that was after you tried to tell me it was worth $200. Anyway I was reffering to the quality of the part, it has some surface rust just thought youd want to check it out and make sure you want to use it.
Sandwiches will work for me as long as you have a cooler of beer sitting nearby.

One part down many to go....My 4speed bell housing arrived today....she sure is pretty!! Gettin my other goodies later on this week from Kurt!! It's like Christmas in January...except I'm havin to buy all my own gifts...that's ok it's well worth it!!

Ok well tonight's activities included trying to remove the tcase....well it didn't go so well....I could not get the stake nut off the back....how do you keep it from turning?

Then I shifted gears and decided to finish taking apart the disk axle...got the other hub off...then I took off the knuckle nuts...tried to get the top and bottom"knuckle holders" out...well the slide out about an inch and then stopped. What am I missiing? What is the trick...I couldn't get the cone washers out but that doesn't seem to be what is holding it in. Do I need to take the front gasket thing off? Wish I had gotten more done, but I got stumpped tonight for sure...any insight is greatly appreciated.

Marshall what color ya wanna paint it? Anyone is fine with me and I think it is a ver good idea.

Thanks, Chuck

Chuck I wrapped a rag around the shaft and grabbed it with a monkey wrench so I could keep it from turning. I've got the granddaddy of wrenches which you can borrow. When are you working again? I'll come over tomorrow night for a while if you want got nothing else to do. Just have me a cold tall boy waiting. Let me know.

Yeah I'll be workin tomorrow night....I'll give ya a call when I leave work.

Thanks, Chuck

Chuck. Come by my house and pick up the compressor and air tools. An impact ratchet will get that nut off without anything else.

The nuckel bearings and the cone washers are what are holding the steering arms in. I used a small steel wedge to get mine off. Be prepared to hear the sound of bearing parts falling into the knuckle. You only need to get the top one's off this way as you can get the knuckle off with just the topp ones out and then you can use a large brass drift to knock the bottom ones out. I really wish I could come and help on the week days. Cause if you screw something up we will have a mess on our hands the following weekend. Give me a call.

CHUCK STOP!!!! PUT DOWN THE TOOLS AND SLOWLY WALK AWAY FROM YOU VEHICLE...... we already have enough to do on your poor 40, don't need you breaking anything else :flipoff2:

Put that crap in the back of your vehicle and bring it to me. I'll have it done for you to put it all back together. Befor Saturday. THough learning how to do it is the whole point of the helpa member out.

Well it was a fairly successful night. I couldn't get those damn dowels out of the axle so it's in the back of the 60 and I'll be stoppin by your house after work Marshall! But with the help of Sir JP and Sir Rico we got the t case off of the transmission..gotta get the "4wheel" bracket out so I can get the other gears out so I'm bringin that too for your expertise Marshall. So after tomorrow everything should be disassembled and ready to be put in the parts washer...that'll be the job for the weekend. See ya tomorrow Marshall!

Wow I can see the light at the end of the tunnel...I couldn't of done it with out Marshall and JP and Rudy. Tonight Marhall got the last dowel out of the knuckle...you da man...heat does wonders, thanks Alex for the idea. Now all I gotta do is wash all the parts, change out bell housings and then it'll be ready to put back together.
