I like it too. What year are the military lanterns and who was the manufacturer?

Do you like the NorthStar? I was thinking of getting one to tinker with,

I dug out my dad's old Coleman stuff from the 70s and my stuff from when I was in Boy Scouts and I am having a few troubles getting things going.

First, my Peak 1 single burner back packing lantern started right up after probably 25 years and ran great. It looks like this.

2nd, my Dad's older 220 dual mantle lantern won't start and run consistently. It pumps up and holds pressure in the tank fine. I have replaced the generator but it still appears to either not be pulling enough fuel or air is getting pulled in somewhere. When it sputters it will light but eventually go out. When it does not sputter it will not light at all. I think its getting too much air in the fuel stream somewhere. Any suggestions?

3rd, my Peak 1 stove won't build pressure in the tank. It just pumps and spits fuel all over my thumb. The pump cup is the non-leather type and appears to be tight enough that it should build pressure, but won't. Any suggestions?

That's a mighty clean looking collection you have there!
Thanks!

North star is definitely unique but I do like it. The two military ones are definitely my favorites they are both multifuel so they will run off of anything combustible. They also have a tool kit and funnel which is very handy. One of the military lanterns is a 1951 model and the other is 1987 (I think). The 51 model was my first lantern and is actually the one that started my fascination. It is somewhat unique because it has unique glass with military markings.

You backpacked with that????

SCORE !

5 Stoves.

Nice-2 standouts there. The 413E is bomber. The torpedo tank and the tank hold down on the grate is evidence of Coleman's attention to detail. But what really makes it is the 3 slot leg adjuster. That's a 1960 only option.

The 413G is also from the era I like. Any dates? 1968ish?

The Northstar...is that liquid fuel or propane canisters ??

I've got a Northstar from the '70's up at a place in northern Cal. Haven't seen the Northstar in years so I really forget, but I thought it was propane. I do remember that it was bright as all get out.

I think there are Northstar versions with both fuels.

Thanks. Yeah, after I posted, I looked it up and could see that there were both versions. Too bad for me 'cause I'm pretty sure mine was/is propane and now I'm more into liquid fuels.

Wonder what it would take to convert it to liquid ?? Or if it's even possible.

Those "backpacking" lanterns are neat. I wonder if anyone actually took them backpacking.

On the 220, you probably need to pull the valve assembly from the tank and clean out the fuel/air tube. If it holds pressure, and releases air when you turn the knob, but no fuel, then the fuel end is clogged.

On the stove, have you added any oil to the cup? Even the plastic ones seem to need a little. Is the check valve stuck? Does the pump push back if you keep your finger over the hole?

Saw a 425C as a display piece in the local Bass Pro Shop. Sad, because it looked nearly new inside.
