My local thrift store has these two bad boys for sale. LMK if you want me to do something for you!

Nothing too new in my Coleman collection as of late. I did score this near photo at a small town car shownlast week. The artist had a small table and primarily did old car and truck photos. This lantern shot was spied by my Mrs 😎

Picked these two stoves up last year, only just got them out to have a good look at them. The Coleman is a 425C in pretty decent shape, will probably give the whole stove a scrub and clean out the tank, then see how it burns and if it needs anything else. The other stove is an American Gas Machines Kamp Kook Model 2821 as far as I can tell, production date somewhere around the 1930's? Haven't been able to find much info online about it, unfortunately it is in rather rough condition but I'll clean it up as best I can and see if it works. Would love to find a replacement decal for the lid but haven't come up with anything yet.

They have several decals for Kamplite lanterns, but nothing I could find for the stoves unfortunately.

I tagged along with my wife on my day off and stumbled on this baby. 220H in decent shape and full of fuel. It was $8 out the door with my almost senior discount.

Score!!! 😎

I got a major chuckle out of this lantern ship job. Not mine, it was shared in a FB Coleman group

Helped a lady at church move out of her house, she was downsizing, no longer going to go camping, so ended up with a couple things including this from 2/89: 290A700 Powerhouse with a plastic case and spare mantles. Rubber pump seal was hard as plastic, local Ace had a rebuild kit, now it fires great. Don’t mind adding it to the collection. Original made in USA globe too.

Decided to try and run the lanterns last night…the 228 needs a new pump and the 285 Dual Fuel is not keeping pressure too good. I was surprised my oldest beat up 200A fired right up. Also tried out my tree mount that I’ve never yet used.

Is it time to re-home some of my Coleman stuff? Would they make someone else happier?

Hear me out on this.

I find myself using exactly one Coleman lantern (200A) and one 2-burner stove on occasion, it’s admittedly rare as I just don’t make the effort to use them and instead rock a headlamp and JetBoil for the same “needs”. I’ll likely never depart with my lantern collection as they have become garage decor, hanging along the ceiling. However the stoves and catalytic heaters? I’ve honestly never actually used one of the bucket style vintage Coleman catalytic heaters in the wild. I camp quite frequently in the cold and dragging one of those in the Cruiser or tent has never crossed my mind.

The stoves are the same deal, there is one I ever use. I have the near-new in-box stove my parents got for their wedding in 1975? and I’d keep that. I’d probably hang onto a 40’s/50’s two burner and maybe one three burner JIC a group need comes up at a future Relic Run or similar. But all the others have a combined value of about $100 lol and would perhaps be far better at motivating others to get out and camp? One though I had, spent another couple hundred buying all the parts to refresh and tune-up the stoves, get them cleaned up and running well and then donate them to Scouting groups, young campers, etc? But beyond the time commitment there, would they even find value in them or has propane and isobutane taken the show?

I have this mental conundrum about once a year, generally in the winter when I’m doing some garage cleanup and see them collecting dust on a shelf. I’ll revisit this in another year and see if I feel the same. :D

Not a great shot but these are how I have the lanterns displayed.

If it takes up mental and physical space, then may be good to move some of them down the road. However no one takes care of this stuff quite like we do. Same thing with Cruisers. :)

@cruiseroutfit I have a similar collection of both, stoves & lanterns…would not want to remove any of them for any reason. Almost like old LC parts. If you aren’t strapped for room to store, I say keep ‘em forever.👍🎯👍
