Sheesh hanging out here has cost me a fortune.....

Found these in a drawer at my grandmothers house. I posted up earlier in the thread when I found the unfired 275 lantern that my grandpa bought in ‘77. I’m sure he probably bought these extra mantles around the same time.

Supposedly Coleman’s best mantles.

Couple more scores today. The cooler is from ‘77, bought it off Craigslist. Guy said it’s never been used but it does have a few scuffs and scratches. Overall very clean and intact though.

And grabbed this 220K lantern from a different guy. Unfired and still in the original box with all the original papers and mantles. Build date is 6-83.

Hey does that latch on your steel belter cooler work? I got 2 and both latches pop open when latched all the way down...

I've got the one that stands on end with shelves and a ice/water bucket and the latch works great.

The latch seems to hold fine. The previous owner said it had never been used so maybe that’s why. Could be they get out of adjustment with use.

There are at least two different types of cooler latches. Early coolers had a positive latch that was similar to and old style window sash latch. Later ones starting in the 1970s have a spring steel tongue that can be pulled open without opening the latch. I believe that was a way to keep from suffocating kids if they were playing around them in the attic. The spring latches have poor holding power and when the inner plastic liner warps over time the latch becomes useless.
