2013 LC with 195k miles. Had the valley leak last year which was repaired within a week. HG issue started last week with misfires in cylinder 1.

Shop wants to replace all timing components while the engine is torn apart just for preventative measures.
Another 2013? Dam. Seriously seems like a pattern.

Meaning you addressed the valley plate within a week of it starting or within a week of noticing fluid was low?

You guys are still going on about how great CCN is come on, headgaskets are not a major issue with these trucks. CCN is not a Toyota g-d Paul Meeker owner of lextech is someone who I would listen to. Mike at FIGS engineering is another.

You are buying an almost 10-15 year old vehicle. Unless they owned it from day 1 you cannot for certain say X was the cause of the headgasket. That's like every dr saying any patient who has a rash has it cause of chicken pocks.

On my 3rd preventative head gasket replacement this year. Following @ryanCA PM schedules.

How much was everything?

Chiming in here as the (now previous) owner of the 200 in CCNs video. Lots to read on this thread but I pray that none of you ever experience a HG failure in your 200. I enjoyed my 2013 and do miss it. Thinking about buying another 200 but we’ll see. Maybe I am a sucker for pain.

I like that my LC created such a large conversation. Not what I ever intended but it’s some added fun!

I hope you read all 28 pages. Given your rig played a starring role in this thread's genesis.

Dudes truck played a staring role in multiple CCN dramas on many threads lol.

You paid CCN to put a new HG in, and then sold it? Care to share why?

I felt like I was between a rock and a hard place with a bill already to pay for the teardown. And I thought that without a running motor I would’ve been lucky to get $10,000 for it. I sold it for $18,000 if I remember correctly. 220k on the clock and a totally rust free chassis. Interior was clean as could be. I described the issue in detail and even linked TCCNs video in there. But either way — it drove me a little crazy for a while

But in short I didn’t like the idea of the HG blowing while I was ten hours from home as I often find myself

If you are really concerned about this, get a couple of oil analysis done and change your coolant frequently. If the reports never show any water or antifreeze components, keep on truckin. Check your coolant level at least once a week, which I have always done on every vehicle I have ever owned. I discovered the valley plate leak and resealed it myself. I mark a hot level and a cold level and if it is ever below the cold level, add coolant and investigate. I cant imagine changing a head gasket on the engines as scheduled maintenance. It seems like that would do more harm than good. No engines are perfect but these are pretty damn good. I would be willing to bet most of these trucks will die from something other than a head gasket failure.

Just got UOA back. 2013 LC. 225k on the engine/chassis, I have owned it since 105k.

Third radiator.. I did the first swap before the new design was released, but none of them failed.

Coolant changed at 105 and 175k mi.

No valley plate leak so far.

Limited towing, amounting to hauling a couple vehicles ~200mi each and a 6x12 closed utility trailer a handful of times. I do suspect the PO hauled a boat around though, not sure how much.

No evidence of antifreeze or typical coolant element contamination in the oil.

Great news!

Bloc, how many miles are you thinking of racking up on your 200? Are you looking at potentially replacing yours with a low mile facelift 200 once you hit the 300k mark?
