I have a yo Eddie Fat Chance....last year Chris Chance welded/owned the company...

i think by far those frames are the best steel frames out there....

some of the old Gary Fishers are good too....

opinons....

They cost a lot but Independent Fabrication would get my money.

independent cycles are a spill over from Fat Chance....when the factory was bought they left and started making Independent.....

great bikes, but i put them in with Fat Chance

Fine then check out Waltworks and Curtlo.

Get a Vanilla. They are some beautiful bikes.

Or you could try to get Steve Potts to build you a steel frame. You may even be able to talk him into a Type 2 fork if you were nice to him. That would be a bike that you would probably never want to sell.

Older (97 or later) Kona Hots with the ridged down tube. 853 and true temper, Welded by Tom E Teesdale. I handed it off to my dad to keep it in the family. Just couldn't sell it. I love that bike.

I love older fat chance yo Eddie, a classic! Independent is pricy, but very good for eastern single track.

brooklyn macine works !!

hoo koo e koo

:D

One way i like to rate a steel frame is to ride single track using the rigid fork it comes with.....so far i cannot find a rigid bike that compares to the Yo Eddie on the trail....

it is almost like riding on a 1st generation Rock Sock...

I have had an Ibis Mojo (hard tail, steel) for 10 years which has always been my favorite ride.

..i talked a racer friend into a Ti Mojo a few years back...

Steel is real

here are a few Brooklyns in the stable.

Sacha builds sweet frames. If you put in an order now you can have one just in time for the start of the 2008 riding season.

I would vote for my Sycip and Dean Private as a tie, closely followed by my Ibis Mojo and for sentimental reasons my 93 Kona Explosif.
I wish I had a Yo Eddy though-but I guess I can't complain.
What ever happened to Jericho? Teesdale built those Kona Hots in the day so it goes to show...
Other great ones Curtlo, Peyto, Steelman which I have no experience with. There is something about Indy FAb I can't get aboard with even though they are made up of Fat Chances x's-
