Does anyone have any experience with these bikes?

I'm really teetering on buying one to be my "other bike"... I'm thinking SS. But obviously it can be geared up if it turns out I don't like the single speed thing.

So, is anybody On*One?

I don't have one, but they're very well respected in the SS community. They're a UK-based company. Head over to http://www.mtbr.com and post a question on the singlespeed forum. You'll get better info there than anywhere else.

I think Kona has a steel frame with sliding dropouts that could also be converted from SS to gears without much trouble.

Yeah, I've been reading up on them on MTBR.. It's between the Inbred and the $400 Redline MC, which is pure SS but also pretty popular. I was just curious as to whether anybody here had ridden one.

Steel is real

Great bike. I've had one for about 2.5 years now. Mostly SS, sometimes 1x8. Did have a squishy fork, now it's rigid with a Thudbuster post. Nice ride for the money.

This thread gave me an idea.....
There are so many things that make me laugh in this country.
one thing is their sweet bicycles. I will have to start taking some more pictures then post them up...

guaranteed to bring smiles... Give me a little time and i will show you what i mean

Sacha’s wait is now close to five years now, or so I hear.

A Sachs is another sweet steel ride but he’s not taking orders right now and even if he was the wait would be over five years.

Zancanato is a hot an upcoming builder who has steel cyclocross frames dialed. Richard Sachs has been giving him props as a first rate builder. I had Mike build me up a steel cross bike that just rips up the trails and feels better on the road than my steel Serotta.

Dave Kirk of Kirk Frameworks is another master builder in steel….road, cross, or mtn (another Serotta master builder who struck out on his own).

Aussie builder Llewellyn.

Kelly Bedford, Serotta’s long time master builder has gone out on his own.

IF is certainly up there as well as Curtlo. Yup, Land sharks still rate as do Rock Lobsters, Spectrum, Waterford, Kirk Pacenti, Yamaguchi, and Serotta (though they are pretty much leaving steel behind).

Anyway, these are some of the builders on my short list for steel frames.

since we are on the topic of bikes that rip...
i've dirt jumped this bike, it was a single speed courier bike on vancouver island. broke my shoulder and face a few times, single speed nationals(11th place finish). might not be much to look, at but if you ever see it on the trail it will be from behind.DSCN0066.webpDSCN0068.webpi actually had a set of sachs drumbrake wheels on it for a while.

You broke your shoulder and face? Dag. I've broken ribs, hands and separated shoulders, but not my face yet!

Love the Fatty. Ex-Sommerville?

I used to live in Avon Square.
