The Best Multi-tool

The best multi-tool is the one you carry all the time. My SLR camera takes way better pics but I seem to take 10x more pics with my camera phone. Some people are accustomed to wearing multi-tool holsters on their belt. I'm not, unless at work. So, that is why I like my pocket sized Leatherman Juice.

I have a Victorinox SwissTool that my first foster kid gave me for my birthday 15 or so years ago. Great solid tool, but heavy as heck.

leatherman charge comes with a pocket clip. I've been carrying mine for about 7yrs now this way. I only wear the sheath if i'm running about or in a place where my pocket contents will spill.

I just keep my wave in the pocket...

I let it scratch up the cell phone. Actually I usually keep them in separate pockets.

Anyone who buys a Bear Grylls knifem multi tool, ax r any other piece of crap need to be kicked in his vagina.
Victorinox and Leatherman, hands down.

HA! I'm glad someone said it (and so eloquently), because similair thoughts were going through my mind.

I have the "new" wave. I really like it, but I wish it had an awl rather than a teeny tiny screwdriver for glasses. I thought it would make a good pick if nothing else. Don't pry too hard on it or it will snap right off. Other than that, I love the locking mechanisms and the blades are sweet.

I used to purchase the Leatherman stuff. Have been using their stuff for over 20 years since their first multi-tool came out. Now I bought the cheap multi tool - from Home Depot. $7 for a pack of two. put at least one in each tool box and vehicle since I can't stop losing my tools.

Carrhartt jeans with the tool pockets on both sides. One for the Wave and one for the cell phone. frees up my pockets for a half ton of other sh!t. That's why I need the suspenders I guess...

Ive carried a Gerber for 15years now and love it. I like how you can open the pliers with one hand... I never go anyplace with out em. I am on my third set but due to theft Grrr

Bringing this old thread back to life with a find I made rooting through some old stuff.

I got this at least 50 years ago; and retired it about 40 years ago.
It doesn't have a manufacturer's name on it. But it was the cat's ass while I used it.
You can see the main knife blade broke somewhere along the line.

that's cool as f#&k. have not seen one of those in about 55yrs. one of my dad's employees had one as an EDC. is that holster original? as he just had a simple leather pouch on his belt. thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I’ve got one of those somewhere. Fancy-assed multitool Before fancy-assed multitools

Leatherman Wave, an old one from 2001.

Didn't they move production overseas?

Leatherman Mutt EOD since they came on the market. I liked it so much I bought another one when they were on sale locally and put it in the closet for when they inevitably stop making them. So now i'm good for the next 20 years or so.

Still built in Oregon according to this:

That's an interesting article, I thought I remember at some point the Wave was made overseas. Some of them don't have the USA cast on them anymore.

Maybe I'll look at getting another one soon to add to the 40 gear.

Back in 2008 I was commemorating the opening of a facility I am responsible for and I bought a some Leatherman Squirts for my team, and had them engraved. All the others had the needle nose pliers option (P4), but since I already had that one, I got myself the version with the wire strippers, model E4. I subsequently lost my P4 so now I carry this most everywhere except when traveling by air. I don't think I have every used the wire strippers, though. I'm not allowed to work with "electrons" at work and when I'm at home I usually pull out my real wire strippers. But I do like that this model has 2d phillips and tweezers (not shown).
