So a bit of an update.

Progress has been slow because the chassis is mostly built. On the body end of it, we purchased a load of used body parts out of Canada, I think going on 5-6 weeks ago now. A mud member up there cut up a Prado for us getting us everything else we need. I do not want to open up more of the body until the RHS A-pillar/cowl area is all closed back up. For that we are supposedly getting the floor pan section on top of the body mount. I need this to close it up and finish it off.

Currently, as far as we know the parts are in quarantine at the border but without a good tracking number I have not been able to confirm this.

I may go for it on the rear floor crossmember this month. We have got a new rear floor pending and working up to being in route. I would just really like to tackle, close up and finish one area at a time not to mention coming with the floor is a rear inner quarter I need.

Not flowing how I wanted but such is the name of the game and with this current global lockdown it is what it is.

We are ready to go on paint and finish guy, he’s all lined up and I am using him right now for small/odd jobs.

Cheers

Doubtful on the v8. Tony has one in mind, pretty sure it is a 4” diameter.

The v8 has had a few upgrades during the rebuild process. It should easily be putting out over 450hp. More on that in the coming weeks when it is back in our shop. Really excited to mount up the power train though in the chassis. ;)

Cheers

What you do to achieve the 450+ hp? I can see you delete the vvt cam..

By the way.. what a battle you give to the rusted parts.. my hands down ;)

It was originally a non-vvt L92.
Pretty much just a cam and a slight overbore for 4.070 pistons. Balanced/polished crank and whatnot too but mostly it was the cam. It's a Summit Racing spec, can't remember the duration. Nothing crazy.

Got a few parts in today from Dave at Japan4x4.

This was really needed.

Reason being, pretty rotten. This is LHS rear most inner rocker.

Going to work our way back from the door. We have a new inner wheel well piece so going for it and working our way back to rear floor crossmember.

Cheers

Very,Very nice work here my friend ! I always wondered if new quarter panels are still available for these ?

They are but the quarter panel from Toyota is the entire side of the truck from roof to rocker and from door to taillight. That is a big piece of sheet metal, far to big to ship from overseas.

Cheers

They do ship them, they're just expensive, right? A friend brought one in last year. Took 4 months and was like $2200 all in.

Sure.

Partsouq has one in stock for only like $625 but shipping is like $1800.

Moving towards rear floor crossmember today.

This project is amazing!

An entirely new floor is on the way BTW care of Dave from Japan4x4. Great guy to deal with.
It was surprisingly inexpensive. About $750 or something.
At this rate half the metal will be new on this thing :D

He is solid, since @Onur got out of the game he is my go-to guy in Japan.

A no bs vendor, cut and dry, easy. Just how I like them!

Cheers

I cannot believe the places the rust is hidden. This project has ruined me for body restoration... I'll never be satisfied with sand blasting again after what I've seen here.
