Somebody asked me somewhere what spot welder I am using. I don’t recall where they asked so here it gets posted.

While there are a lot of harbor freight pos tools in my shop, this isn’t one of them. 😁

A little more to do but this is mostly done.

This is below tail light bucket and is the inner pillar, bottom. I got one more piece to make in this area and it’s done. Do the same to the other side and then I can fit the rear floor crossmember.

That's like great grandpa's axe. Grandpa replaced the handle and dad replaced the head but it's still great grandpa's axe.:)

Makes me wonder if ALL the panels are available new, and if a guy could buy them all and weld up a brand new body.

(a guy like @SNLC, not a guy like me) :p

Pretty much they are, especially for the 78.

Very very expensive though to buy and import them all.

What is nice about new panels, is they self align for the most part.

KBS coatings has some good stuff, there Cavity Wax is insane, it's sprays on thin, creep's in amazing and freeze's up some. Very good for protecting in impossible places..

I have used their products before, they are quality.

Definitely possible. It would be easy(er) to do with a single cab since they're much smaller. Might not be cheaper in the long run vs buying one of these Canadian cabs that pop up for sale but you could implement rust mitigation into all these areas the factory didn't.

Now if you could source all new 73/74 panels, and build a brand new body, that would be killer.

I was hoping to reuse this but it is just to crusty and rusty to bury in here.

So I formed up new pieces and am welding them in.
