Total bill for the OEM windshield replacement is as follows:

  • Windshield (OEM#56101-6A957)-$991.17
  • Moulding (#75531-60080)-$25.80
  • Moulding (#75533-60082)-$114.19
  • Moulding (#75534-60072)-$114.19
  • Eurathane ($10/unit x 2)-$20
  • Lane Departure Assist Recalibration-$150
  • Labor-$250
Subtotal-$1665.35
Tax @ 8.25%-$104.39
Total-$1,769.74

The work is to be done at a Lexus dealer and the recalibration at the Toyota dealer next door. Normal recalibration fee according to book rate is $450 at the Lexus dealer, the Toyota dealer is doing it for $150. I have a total of $100 out of pocket after insurance, I can live with that so long as everything looks as it did prior to the incident.

North Houston lexus hires out windshield replacement to a shop on Kuykendall. Took my LS460 there and verified it was Lexus glass. The late great and powerful John Hocker when he was the Land Cruiser parts Guru on the 3FE list, told me that without question he would pay his price at Sierra Vista Toyota of just over $1000 for Toyota glass for my FJ62 if it was his. Shipping did not make sense and told me to buy it local where I get a 20% discount.

This is being done at Westside Lexus in Katy, I have used them as my Lexus dealer for years now and they have an in house guy that does all glass repair. He did the OEM swap on my GX earlier this year as well, I watched it being done on site. I can't attest to what North Side Lexus does or doesn't do.

FWIW the GX and 200 install should be essentially the same if it makes you feel any better. Glass has identical moldings, cowlings, and configuration on the truck.

Not worried about it, I've seen their work first hand, it trumps any Safelite store in existence. I posted the price break down for others as a reference for future quotes.

The put in for the Guad in Martindale, TX. Spent the weekend Kayaking/Stand Up Paddle Boarding in preparation for a Devil's River trip coming up in a few weeks.

I'd like to hear about your Devil's river trip when you return. I have never done it but have done the canyons in BBNP, the LLano, Guadalupe and a few others.

We went way back in 2010 and it was a good time. That first trip I was in a 12' fishing kayak and I had far too much gear and unnecessary crap, if nothing else I learned to go as light as possible and scale back what you take. Treat it like a light weight back packing excursion and you'll be good. I am taking an 11' inflatable fishing SUP this time even though the outfitter suggests that I don't haha. I saw a story about some men in their 60's running it on SUP's earlier this year without issue so I will disregard her good faith suggestions. I've been running this SUP in the bay dragging it over oyster shell reefs and it has been down quite a few rivers here in Texas over the past five years as well without a hiccup so I have faith in its durability and build integrity. I'll be sure to PM you a AAR on the trip when we return but I highly suggest you check it off of your list, just be prepared to be annoyed by the logistics behind the booking requirements, park, shuttle service/outfitter, etc.

I finally got around to getting this installed.

Seven hours later and it's finally done! I'd be ok if I never did another one of these ever again lol. The cutting is quite tedious in a few spots making sure not to cut too deep on the bracing so that you don't cut into the actual tailgate. I am not a fan of how the corners curl up, I've noticed this on most every single one I've seen pics of. Maybe the center bolts at the frame and hinge junction should be loosened a touch to keep it from warping? Has anyone come up with a solution for this?

I used the entire oil mat folded in half and I simply cut it where the close assist actuators wiring attaches in order to fit it around the wiring. I appreciate the suggestions on the mat and padding underneath, that combined should keep things quiet on even the roughest of roads. I added some edge trim to the dust flap because without it the edge of the flap would catch on the tailgate latches as you closed the tailgate. I am tossing around an idea for a material on top of the door but I'll have to see if it's feasible first. All in all I am happy to have it installed and now the extra space, no more air hoses and tools stuffed under the jump seats lol.

The third row jump seats have finally been removed. I used the Aussie made Specialist 3D Products third row seat delete panels with tie-down rings to cover the exposed holes in the fenders, this is a nice bit of kit. The original hardware removed from the seat mounts went back into their respective holes. The tie-down rings have a 1000lb WLL but I doubt they ever come close to seeing that kind of stress for what I'd use them for.

I grabbed some 1" open cell foam I had lying around from one of my many Pelican cases and got to work cutting out pieces I had stenciled from the voids left over from the feet on the jump seats in the cargo floor. The Heritage Edition rubber cargo mat I ordered should be here in the next few days to finish it out and cover the entire cargo floor.

All things considered, I am pretty happy with how it turned out. Now I just need to decide which drawer system will eventually fill the void, but until then I look forward to the added cargo space and reduced payload.

what year is your lc? my 2018 3rd row seatbelts bolt to the floor while yours are to the side.

i also removed my 3rd row this past weekend, i gained 1/4” in ride height for the rears.

2021, the drivers side is on the floor, I thought it was weird that they don’t match each other.

I didn’t measure the change in ride height but with 100lbs less weight behind the axle I’m not surprised. Now the fun part will be to see how long I get to enjoy the extra space before filling it back up with a drawer system lol.

Probably a dumb question, but it’s early this morning so…. This is between the driver’s legs, right?
If so, I like.

Do you worry about a cop seeing it if you ever get pulled over for speeding or something?
(Not that it’s illegal, at least here in TX.)

Yes, it's between my legs, the perfect spot for an easy, almost effortless draw right up at a car jackers face. I do not worry because I've had a LTC for 17 years now, you also have Constitutional Carry here now and the Castle Doctrine. If and when I get pulled over I always inform the officer of a firearm being within reach and where exactly that is and that's if it isn't already the first thing out of their mouth as they walk up. They pull your DL info tied to the registration as they call your plate number in so nine times out of ten they already know that they are dealing with a driver that has a LTC and is likely carrying. In all of my years carrying and getting pulled over it has never been an issue and only once has an officer asked me to step out of the vehicle during the stop for his safety and he was a nervous Dallas area city cop fella to begin with lol.

Yes, I did, but not much. You can kinda see the cuts in the pics.
