Actually, I've done this project myself. Here's how it turned out.

The only challenge will be a steering linkage...

So a rear engine 40 with 2 forward gears, 8 reverse, and mufflers coming out the front. I like it.

Think I found a picture of someone who's already done this project.

I actually did this on a Sammi using 2 mini truck front axles. I simply cut the diff cover off and the mounting ring for the 3rd member then flipped them front to rear and rewelded them. It worked quite well. I am not sure that I would want birfileds in the back of a pig though.
