I have a 99 and a 2000 LX470 and a 2003 GX. I want to get a techstream program so i can check the neutral pressure on my LX470 and also do other functions. does anyone have any advice as to what to buy and what works best?

There's a kit on Amazon for around $25 I believe. Comes with a CD and cable. Tech stream runs best on a computer with Windows XP

Works on my 2004 just fine. It comes with everything you need except for a computer running XP.

do you have it on a stand alone laptop ? did it come with all of the software you need and did it install easy??

You don't need a dedicated machine, just download a free copy of Oracle's virtual box (with extensions) and install XP on it. Just make sure to enable USB on the virtual machine.

TOYOTA TIS Techstream V10.00.028 by Xhorse. I use it on Windows XP. It has a full version of TIS, no license required. I reprogrammed a couple of options - works great.
Easy to install, note: area selection "Europe".
and need to active:
Open IT3System.ini
C:\Program Files\Toyota Diagnostics\Techstream\ Env\IT3System.ini
Change TISFunction=1 to TISFunction=0
Save
All ok

Oregon...do you know where to get an XP ISO? All I can find around the house is Vista.

Nevermind...it appears to work just fine as long as it is on a 32-bit OS. I've got a Win7 32-bit ISO so this shouldn't be a problem.

Is it mentioned somewhere easy to read? The manuals are all in Japanese (it's a right hand drive from the Japanese market)?

I have it running on my 64 bit machine. It's my work laptop. There was some small extra step to get it to work it was super easy.

It's most likely not OBD2. Never heard of a diesel 100-series with anything else than M-OBD, so you'll need TechStream.

I'm not sure, although the description on Amazon says it's 32-bit, so I'm guessing it is.

sorry to hijack this thread, but is the responsiveness of techstream computer dependant or is the bottleneck the ecu?

The drivers for the cheap copy mini VCIs can present challenges. I understand that the drivers supplied with legitimate Mongoose VCIs don't have 64 bit issues.

Is everybody using the software that came with the cable? My cable (from Amazon) came a bunch of versions of Techstream on a CD. I have an old 32 but small laptop I can load th software on, I just don't know what version to install.

I'm running 9.30.002 which is an older version. The latest version is 11.10.034

Will any of the blue tooth scanner available give us the same data?
