I'm thinking the next install will be the brake booster assembly. I think I have the hard vacuum line routed correctly, but I'm still not sure until I get the brake booster cleaned up and bolted on. Then we'll see if everything connects.
Looking at these shots of the fire wall in final paint gives the impression the truck is closer to complete than it is. Everything else is just in primer. The undercarriage and firewall were done in paint while on the rotisserie so the engine and everything underneath could be installed before the final paint was done. Seeing this helps inspire me to keep going; the illusion of being close to the finish line!

I got the Brake booster and master cylinder apart today. There was an obvious leak there before which corroded the fire wall beyond belief. I didn't notice an active leak when I had it on the road, but I did have to add fluid once, so it may have still leaked, although I did replace a wheel cylinder so I'm not sure if it still leaked or not. So now after the new paint, I definitely don't want any leaks again. The big question is do I get a $130 brake master cylinder rebuild kit from SOR or do I get a new master cylinder (possibly rebuilt)from RooDogs (AU)? The one they show on Ebay is $185 plus shipping. It doesn't look like its OEM, so I don't know if it's worth the $200 + dollars to get it. I've ordered from RooDogs before and have been satisfied with the quality. It takes a while to get here of course. In the meantime I cleaned the booster unit and painted it non-original black; I'm beyond staying original at this point.

You can still get it new from Toyota for about $250 from cruiser Dan. LHD and RHD are the same do not do after market and if my experience holds true for others, only rebuild it if you're happy to do it again in a year or two.

I'd buy a new oem one if you can, while they still are available. Or upgrade to a 1" brake master off of an 80 series.

I PM'd Cruiser Dan; he's out of town with a family matter right now, so I'll wait to here from him on the master cylinder and slave cylinder. The guys at RooDogs have emailed me back and will let me know shipping costs from AU. I'm sure Cruiser Dan is the way to go on these parts. Some of this stuff I think you can only get from down under or maybe Canada, but as you guys pointed out, these particular items can be had from Dan. That's why I'm here; for the help.
I mounted the brake booster and clutch master cylinder to the fire wall today. It took longer to find the right bolts than to install the actual parts, but that gave me time to get 9 holes in at my local golf course.

Careful with Roo Dogs. A lot of their stuff us Taiwanese reproduction. While it works, the build quality is not great. They sell well in Australia because Toyota parts are so much more expensive than here.

I've been amazed with the rhd stuff Dan can get. He has the fisches and gets non-USA stuff. I bought a lot of stuff from him and sent it to myself in Australia as it was less than half the price of Toyota Australia.

Your clutch master is also identical to LHD, and Dan has it in stock. I just bought one for my rhd and it was about $110 I think; less than Roo Dogs' Thai master.

By way of comparison, CMI Toyota in Adelaide wanted au$550 for the master, so suddenly the Thai master looks better.

I found the illusive missing second hard pipe for the brake booster, so I cleaned and painted it, now it's mounted (hopefully correctly).

Cruiser Dan called me back and was not sure if the brake booster and clutch slave cylinders were the same on RHD vs LHD. He said to get the part numbers and he would let me know. At this point, I cleaned up both parts and will re-install them. If they worked before they should work now. I took the reservoir apart; it was gunked up pretty bad. So it's super clean now and the body is in black engine paint.

On mine they were but mine is an 84 fj40. I'm almost certain (from memory) that the slaves for the hj47 and fj40 are different.

Brake master and first hydraulic lines are in. I'm going to run it and hope she doesn't leak, otherwise it's probably a overseas order to replace. No big deal, just a wait. I cleaned the 32 years of grime off first. I think it'll be fine, but I'll know for sure when I get the rest of the hydraulic lines run and add the fluid and pressure.

Imagine screwing in that last bolt to finish the restoration.... the sun is shining, not a cloud in the sky, a cool breeze is blowing and you stick your key in the ignition and she fires up the first try... a little white smoke at first but then she blows clean. You let her warm-up, then gently nudge her into first. As you let the clutch out gently she responds by pushing forward and you don't hesitate to give her the gas she desperately craves... Your breathing starts to match the engine's breathing and next thing you know you are in 4th gear pushing her to the max at 62 mph and you ask yourself is this what heaven feels like?
