I was reading threads and (I cannot find it now) someone alluded that they can relabel Lighted switches! (such as antenna switch) I was wondering :hhmm:who that was and if they offer their services or can post up a method to do this?

I want to relabel my antenna switch for winch controls.

Greetings:

I would be interested in this as well.

I made a label for a garage opener and fog light using old hazard switches. I will post up pics when I get home tonight. I basically inverted the black and white printing, then I double taped it to some clear plastic for rigidity, and covered the paper with thick packing tape. If you know what you are looking for you can tell, but most people cannot tell it was not factory. I am also trying to find a printing company that can screenprint on clear stock the same way factory does it.

CruiserDan has done this, but I don't remember how....

Look in a thread called the perfect 80....

Here are the two I made last weekend. Top one is garage door opener, lower is the driving lights. Both were made from $6 ebay hazard switches from 4runners. They are lit wen the lights are on, and when they are pushed in they switch brighter. My only complaint is that the diagram looks white instead of green like the other switches, but I am ordering the green condoms for the bulbs next week and that should make the backlight match.

I'm in the process of doing this myself. I rebadged a 4Runner rear window switch for winch control a few years ago. Right now, I am changing 2 defrost switches to R & R ARB Locker switches. I designed what I wanted, brought them down to the local sign printing shop, & he printed them on the material they make lighted signs out of. As a matter of fact, I just paid the guy $25 for my switch stickers & another mod I am attempting, adding locker, Compressor, & Winch "warning" lights, to my 91 gage cluster. Maybe in the next few weeks, I'll have time to finish what I started.

Garage door opener huh? Didn't think of that one. Damn, looks like I need another opening in my dash for another antenna switch.

Perhaps you could tell us how you did it LC4LIFE?

Karl

I will write it up and do photos in the next few days. it was actually pretty easy. I just disassembled my normal opener and tied it into the LC's electrical, then took the detent stopper out of the hazard switch so it would only be a momentary button. The opener fits perfectly behind the switch in some open space in the dash.

Hmm, when I read my post I could have been way more clear. I am interested in knowing how you did the graphics that you put on your switches. I was thinking that I could use some overhead projector plastic and print the design I want, print it, cut it out, and glue it in. I just wanted to know if thats what you did. BTW, damn good idea with the garage door opener. I think I might steal that one from ya.

Thanks for all of the replies. I searched all of CruiserDan's threads but missed this one. I was going to post up that I couldn't find Dan's write up and there it was! Thanks!

LC4LIFE, any chance you are still going to do a write up? I have several items I wanted to make custom labels for some switches I have. Plus, I'm VERY interested in the garage door set up you did!

I have begun the write up on the garage door opener. Work will be busy for the next couple of weeks, traveling etc, then I will get the write up posted

get one of those new digital label makers and some black label rolls change the font color to white and voila. or go to a sign shop and have some clear vinyl stickers made! a little more pricey as the lable maker could come in handy around the house and shop
