Time to actually work on your own rig for a change!

Mark, what about the 60? Will we ever see that coming out more often or are you always sticking to the 40?

Bummer, we're going to miss you Rob. :frown:

I guess we'll plan on doing it again next year.

YOU GUESS????

next year, we're not at pole 6, we'll do it nomad style and move each morning and not tell anyone till they find Knuckles and a sombrero behind some dune 5 miles from the last camp spot.

Actually, that's how it all started six years ago. We thought "we're Land Cruiser guys" we'll camp in the back dunes away from the crowds and motorhomes. It lacks the ocean view but is more protected from the wind. We had a great time camping in the back dunes, but it was clear as the event grew we wouldn't "fit" at "Cottonwood camp".

About one week before the Surf n Turf "1" a powerful storm was brewing in the Gulf of Alaska. This is where our weather and surf conditions are born. I found myself glued to the weather forecasts and satellite imagery. It had not rained here for 280 days! Now a huge storm was bearing down on the central coast and Surf n Turf.

Sure enough the unseasonable weather began mid week. Heavy rains and high surf hit the coast as I prepared for the event. It was one of the most intense storms we’ve experienced in a long time. I could only hope it would pass before the start of Surf n Turf.

On Friday the day before the event I went down to the beach to observe the conditions. The beach ramp was CLOSED! The heavy rains, high tides and huge surf were pounding Pismo Beach. The waves were breaking over the entire beach and up onto the street. The beach access ramp was barricaded and there was no way anyone was driving on the beach.

The TRUE CRUISERHEADS weren't deterred by harsh conditions and were subsequently rewarded with sunny skies and typical Central Coast weather.

The humble beginning...

SURF N TURF will NOT be CANCELED due to rain, wind, high tides, floods, Acts of God, invasions of hostile forces or marauding hordes of the reanimated un-dead.

Bring it awn!

I want that wash to brake through this year. It's great watching pple cross that thing especially when they're hauling a trailer.

Not really, but I see what you mean.

I was thinking about a few participants in last year's Surf N Turf 5k Fun Run...

Randy - one of those time is when RFJTOY and I plan on leaving from behind the Orange Curtain. We just don't know yet.

Check in on threads that will likelyl pop up in the SoCal80's section as SnT nears!

I rarely venture into the 80's forum. Keep me in mind and let me know when you guys figure out times and dates as we get closer.

I may be going up early now and then leaving to pick up my wife and kid on Sat morning then coming back with them. Still trying to decide. I don't really want to take two trucks but I want to make sure I can get a spot.

Bringing the 60?

That trip does tend to adjust some things huh Mark ?
Yup. This stuff's been 'coming' for a while. Left spring hanger has cracked twice before. Now the right one's going as well. Got some HD replacements from RuffStuff, just can't seem to get any rack time in my own shop!

Also have to reinforce the right front spring perch. Seems to have gotten CRUSHED!:eek:

Randy, I sold the 60 last month. The new owner had been bugging me since January to sell it to him. I may pick up a 'new' rig tomorrow.;)
