Hey everyone,

I've been noticing wind noise from the sunroof area at highway speeds (windshield is OEM). It seems that some people have been through this issue but there's no apparent solution. Has anyone successfully tackled it?

Old post but if you replace the weather stripping around the glass the wind noise will stop. I had the same issue, replaced the weather stripping and the noise is gone. Easy to do and takes less than 1.5 hours.

Slipkid, might you possibly have the part number for that seal?? Thanks Mitch.
Sure, here you go...

Just a note about this.. 200-series LX list a deal/gasket part number separate from the sunroof panel, but same-year LC's dont. They only show a complete assembly. I don't know the reason for the difference, possibly some bougie coating on the L-model panel. That's a total guess.

I've ordered a LX seal to put on my LC but it has been sitting on the shelf for at least a couple years waiting for me to "find time" to absolutely verify it fits.

Time....

Any issues with trim clips breaking or anything? Not wanting to break things over a job that isn't 100% necessary has definitely slowed me down on this one.

Follow this video, its a very easy job. The 2 trim pieces that have to be removed are super sturdy.

Hard to see the sunroofs (LC/LX) not being identical.

Much appreciated.

Any update on your project? I just called my Toyota parts department and they confirmed they recommend buying the weatherstripping and the glass together for $1,400.

The part pictured here is $70. Were you able to complete your project?
I spent $35 for the weather stripping. Of course the parts dept is gonna "recommend" replacing perfectly good glass... Everything is a scam now. WTF would the glass need to be replaced if it's not cracked or broken?

Go to Bell Lexus online and buy the part for $35

I haven’t had a chance to tear into it yet.

Hold your horses.. the Toyota parts diagrams, which are the only ones they likely will be looking at, don’t list a separate part number for the gasket. Only the Lexus one does. I don’t know why.

Some version of Hanlon’s razor applies here. Only, it’s more ignorance than stupidity.

Thank you both - I went ahead and ordered. Hopefully it will be here early next week. I am going on a long roadtrip and would like to have that in place before heading out.

Maybe. I get they list it as one item but anyone with 2 brain cells knows weather stripping is a replaceable item, it's not permanently bonded to the glass. But then he is just probably "going with what the computer tells me" so I guess you have a valid point.
