Hey, I apologize in advance for the dumbass question.
My son has recently purchased a beautiful 62 completely stock and rust free.
The only upgrade he wants to do is lift it slightly. But he's wondering if there is a way to do this without getting an entire OME (or other brand) lift kit.
I think I saw something about a 'shackle lift', but I'm wanting to know the pros and cons.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the site!
I had a shackle lift on my truck when I purchased it. Depending on the condition of your current springs, this can get you the desired effect or worse, exacerbate the underlying issue of worn out springs. I would first get a good assesment of the current springs and go from there. Personally though my vote would be to save up for a proper spring kit from @cruiseroutfit or other reputable vendor here on mud.

Good luck and post up some photos!

Cheers, James

Look up 4Crawer body lift and bushing replacements if you want just 1 inch! The shackle lifts will make existing springs more harsh. Or go for the tried and true OME 2.5 Medium/ light setup (call Cruiser Outfitters)

BTW I have a complete front OME for sale in the classifieds.....I just sent you a PM

I agree with what everyone else said. Assuming your springs are in good shape, you can get extended shackles. If not, You can do a small body lift.

I would definitely call Cruiser Outfitters and let them know your budget. They can work up some options for you.

Rather do springs than a body lift! You will replace springs if they are original. Just get both accomplished

Looks like 4Crawler is no longer running the business. I wonder what everyone will do for body lifts now.
