Alright, so I've got an oil leak coming from the head. There's some sort of plug (?) above the 5th spark plug that comes out at an angle. The oil is leaking from there. How do I fix it? Should I be worried?

A little history: I replaced the head gasket about 3 weeks ago. while it was off, I had the head machined, new valve seats/guides, etc. Did the machine shop screw up?

Thanks for the help!!

There is a thread out here detailing what your issue is. I thought that I had put it in the FAQ but I cannot find it...

You mean this one <----Link

PS keep a close eye on your oil other wise all that new head work will be waisted.

Same/same...

Working on your PM you sent me the other day.

Should have a solution here next week.

Hit it with some brake cleaner first to try and get some of the oil away from where you want your gum to stick....

What was he supposed to say, Vegemite?

I do not think that it has the same adhesive and sealing properties as a piece of chewing gum does.

‘Sides, if it keeps him from stuffing and engine, he is golden.

I did it in the truck and was worried about the shavings from the tap and drilling entering the oil galley, so I cranked the engine over a few times with ingition off and let some oil puke out the hole, after using a small magnet to pick up the chunks.
Worked OK so far.:hhmm:

I just saw this, let me put my $.02 in, I use a 5/16" x 24 tap, no drilling required, then I install 2 allen head plugs one deep, and lock it in place with a second. Red loctite on both.
I have done at least 30 heads like this, SOP on all my head work or overhauls...........

JUST DON'T BREAK THE TAP IN THE HEAD!!!

...ask me how I know :whoops:

Now what kind of an idiot would break a tap off in the head?:rolleyes:

lol this is pretty funny now that I read it after I posted on my other thread.

While we have some experts in here. Has anyone put a reducer in the top end head to restrict the oil flow to the valvetrain and keep the oil pressure further south? I see some v-8's do this.

Not everyone waddles around on water with great success there Butch.

You have any contact info for Yellow mini truck God, Dennis?

I have seen first hand the effects of reduced/lack of oil to the top end and cannot think of a single reason why you would want any less oil to the top end of the Toyota F/2F engine Marshall.

Two completely different lubrication systems between the Toyota six and a GM V8, at least as far as oil flow to the top end of the engine is concerned.

The two holes in the camshaft do a great job at restricting flow already.
