Christo,

Here is my question for you. Does it come as one piece or is it in two halves? The reason I ask is this.

I need to have one of the seats down in the back (the hazards of having 4 kids), But I have the ARB fridge on the other side of the rear.

So if it comes in two halves that would work great for me.

If it doesn't would there be a way of making it two halves? A little customization?

Thanks!

Sorry, it would not be possible to split into two pieces due to how it is designed.

We have prototyped drawer systems some time ago. However we had a tough time to get to the right price point when all was said and done. I might rethink that in the future again.

Making these as single drawers presents it own list of problems. What makes these so strong and well made is that the two drawers and the top is a tight fit in the truck. So all movement is eliminated. When you have a single drawer and you load it with 150lbs, then you have issues with the sides that want to sway.

Is there a system to attach the fridge to the floor of the rear in the LC? I know they make it for the top of the drawer systems. Right now it is strapped in. I would rather have some sort of locking system for it to sit on and lock into.

I think what I am going to do is make a base only out of 3/4 mdf or plywood. I will just use the cargo mat as a template. With this I will be able to leave it down all the time because there is at least 1 1/2 inches of room under each rear seat.

There are 1 place that will give me trouble and that is midway under the rear seat. There is a bar that comes down when the seat is lowered and it looks just it sits right at 3/4 inch. So I will use a router and just route out a strip about 1/4 inch under that which will give it room to come down without stopping.

Then on the passenger side I will put the engel transit slide.

I will drill out 4 holes where the hooks are on the corners so I can put two cinch straps there to hold it down to the floor.

This way it will still be removable.

The whole idea is not mine, I got it from:

How To Install Your Engel Transit Slide Lock - Expedition Exchange

So props and thanks to them!

What I also am able to do is even with the seats up, I can fit a nice sized pelican box on their sides behind the seats and they are very snug.

Thoughts?

The plywood will work, but rather use this for the fridge.

The transit locks are not very strong and the plastic has a tendency to break. The slide allows you to pull it out as well.

I was thinking of that, but the metal looks so thin, like it would bend and warp if I hit some rough stuff and the fridge started moving. If you are suggesting it, I assume it is much stronger then it looks.

Do you happen to know total height of it? Just curious.
