Im a relatively simple person. I'm not much for flash.

Considering that the LX570 models are going for less money than comparable Land Cruisers. I have decided its a no brainer to consider them.

I've been looking at Cars.com, Autotrader.com and Manheim.com and not only are the LX models less money, but there seems to be a TON more trucks!

Initially I had big plans to throw on a OME lift with some bigger tires and figured the AHC system and 20" wheels on the LX werent for me, but honestly, i'd rather spend some more up front for a cleaner/ low mileage truck and i'm sure it'll be fine in stock configuration for whatever I throw at it.

Anyone else come to this conclusion?

Thanks! Trying to balance between what some dealers are calling “light surface rust” and “walk away rust” lol

Heres some pics of a truck with 47k miles. Half of that was being sold new in NY (Hamptons) the. Last half it lived down south with second owner.

I need to climb under my wife’s 2016 GX460 that we bought new to see how its holding up living in Md since new. Not sure what level of rust is acceptable

I ended up shelling out the extra for a LC simply because I didn't know what I would do with it in the future. Until an AHC delete is figured out the LC platform is less restrictive, IMO.

That said.. with so many more LXs available, and significantly less expensive too, the market for an AHC delete solution is only growing.. And anyone that can figure it out will likely do very well with that product.

I went LX too as I like creature comforts and being honest with myself 99% of the time I will be commuting with the vehicle. 6mnths in and I love it.

That's what I thought but I gave up on AHC delete. I bought an LC in place of LX for more cash and spent more money on the LC in upgrades. The LX has many great features but to me it will always be the pretty boy.

The KDSS retrofit would be expensive but relatively straightforward.. the hardest part to "figure out" is module coding, which has to be done with AHC delete anyway. Coming from the GM LS swap world, people are doing VERY impressive things with figuring out module coding/comms. Ive said it before.. if the right person takes an interest the electronic side of KDSS addition/AHC delete will be cracked, easily.

Still, that leaves the cost of adding KDSS equipment.. which basically justifies the cost difference of getting a LandCruiser in the first place.

Another factor for me was I was most likely adding sliders, and the LC doesn't require the purchase of $500+ in body work to do that cleanly. That, plus replacing the 20s made the cost advantage of the LX less significant.

if I had bought a LX I'd most likely be content with it (they are every bit as amazing as my LC), but there was always the chance I'd want to lift/etc and when I thought about it the LC platform presented less obstacles IF i go that route. I'm super happy with it.

Lexus' are definitely more comfortable and way more quiet- the sound deadening makes a huge difference. Really great for an all-rounder. Usually easier to find one that hasn't done offroading, too and is in way better shape for the money.
Aesthetically I think I like the LC front end better but overall they look pretty nice with new bumpers and sliders instead of the step.
You really can't beat the value!

Im actually hoping that buying the LX will keep me from wanting to go mod crazy lol

I have a garage full of toys... some more agressive tires to make it look tougher and id be happy... i think lol

no longer have to pay $500 to put on TLC rocker trim. Can easily cut the LX570 step right off. Doesn't fix the fact that sliders are a huge PITA.

The same thing flashed through my mind.. then I acknowledged my history with tinkering.

@bloc Finding one. There is exactly 0 on the market ATM. Slee is about ready to enter the market. The other option is getting a 'generic' 72" slider and making 10 custom brackets and 10 custom legs. And don't think I haven't thought about that, even though I have no grinder, no welder, and no experience with metal fab.

I believe Slee has had the LX sliders available since last year. They're just not on the website as with some of their other available 200 series products (rear bumper).

No offense, but this would be more than a bit misdirected. Until one gets to experience AHC first hand, with its huge breadth of competencies, it's hard to convey.

To retrofit a passive KDSS system, in place of AHC which is KDSS on steriods x 10 doesn't really make sense. AHC itself can be modified to do just about anything one would want to do, save for the truly specialized race application. Also, AHC is probably more reliable than any aftermarket suspension out there.

Most ways you look at this once you understand the value of AHC, makes anything else a downgrade. Except for cost if it were to come to a serious refurb of the system way down the road.

If you look at the progression of the 100-series forum, there are many that now regret ripping out AHC, as they didn't understand what they had.
