Here is something different that I came up with for (2) - 6" & (2) - 4" speakers under the driver seat. It is not the best sound but it was the most inconspicuous option I could come up with. Used fiberglass to create the bottom of the box which helped to maximize the volume and allow for a fully sealed enclosure. Added a few raised details to the side of the box to make it look like the toolbox on the earlier models.

Arizona is dusty and matter what I install want the speaker backside sealed. For the back of the hard top model toying with something like this.

Have less than $100 in these ambulance doors off a wrecked troopy. So cutting holes will not bother me.

Seen this front door on the internet.

With a vent window on the later doors could run. A decent size flush speaker on and tweeter on the top with. Wouldn't have to cut the door skin just the cover panel to install. Picture of a member I copied here on Mud.

For a soft top or no top I would box in the SOR on the front and something similar in the back. Even if I posted an inclosure would need a fine screen over the opening. In Arizona I hate dust.

I like boat speakers mounted to roll bar and wiring ran through the roll bar!

Something like this might be a good idea for the backside.

I might order a set for my front doors.

I still haven't come to terms with punching holes in the door, or the jamb to run the wires. I've got two sets of door cards sitting on the shelf. The placement of the speaker isn't 100% either. It works, but when I did it, I remember thinking it needed to be bumped a little one direction or another.

Many years ago I installed a pair of Radio Shack Minimus 7 speakers to my 68 hard top. Had the Radio Shack mounting bracket and drilled holes to match the three hinge bolts on the back hatch. Liked the location but the weight of the speakers and washboard roads were not a good match. Brackets cracked pretty quickly. Really too bad. It was a great setup for sitting around the campfire at night. Just loosened the knobs and pointed the speakers out the back with the hatch open. Not sure the weight of boat speakers but Minimus 7s are heavy and had a decent sound for their time. I could see possibly mounting speakers on the back loop of the roll bar. Not sure how I would like having a speaker six inches from head on the main bar.

These 6x9 just sit on the floor but I have them attached to the tailgates and inner panels with magnets and steel plates. That keeps them in place while driving but I can remove them easily. The wires are extra long so I can put them out on a picnic table or on the ground for get togethers. The front 4x6 are bolted under the dash.
