I recently purchased a 1997 80 series. Overall it’s in great shape and just has a few normal wear and tear pieces that’s I’d like to replace/fix. I’m planning on sending the steering wheel to craft customs to be re-wrapped, but, with this going to be my daily driver to work and back I was hoping to throw a temporary wheel on it until I get mine back.

rather than buying an 2nd land cruiser or LX steering wheel is there another Toyota model (camery, etc) that would be a cheaper temporary option?

I don't know the specifics to share here but the following threads may help:

I think many other toyota/lexus steering wheels are pretty interchangeable.

I been wondering about 79-series. Its a four spoke vinyl which I personally really like the vinyl wheels myself. Air bag seems like it would be the biggest issues if it is an issue.

You can still get the 93/94 black vinyl steering wheel new. It’s real nice in my opinion and a solid price from Toyota but is non-air bag.

Cheers

Thanks SNLC, I’ll check it out

If you aren't going to hook any of the electronics back up or reinstall the clamshells then about any wheel with a similar ID splined hole as the original should fit and allow you to steer. Just tighten up the shaft nut and drive it until the reconditioned wheel comes back. FWIW.

Tan/brown 1997 40th anniversary

I have OEM Tan 80 series steering wheels. This is for the 1995-1998 Land Cruiser 80 Series. The one with the cruise control is for $375, while the other two (without cruise control) are for $355.

thanks!

I had 2 steering wheels for '97 FJ-80. I sent one to Craft Customs to be re-skinned (see pic below, re-skin is on right) and they did a great job. If anyone in the San Diego area wants to use my second wheel as a core and then give me your old wheel after the swap, hit me up. I can also walk you through the install if needed.
