that's a great idea. at 20 years young I imagine most of the soft parts are drying up in terms of rubber! You could also replace the engine mounts, especially if you're going to lift engine a bit to remove the rack, which is an accepted way to avoid removing the oil filter housing per FSM.
Rubber vs Poly bushings... I think it is just a matter of preference. how do we know if our exhaust manifold is leaking and needs replacing?there is no better time to replace a leaking exhaust manifold (drivers side) then when the steering rack is being replaced.
You'll know when a manifold is leaking. If your car makes a tick, tick, tick, tick sound coming from the manifolds when you turn it on. Most of us leave it alone if the ticking sound goes away when the car is warmed up.how do we know if our exhaust manifold is leaking and needs replacing?
I'd think if you're pushing it (34"+ tires), go poly, otherwise oem should hold up.Getting another new OEM rack. Would guys recommend to outfit it with poly bushings out the box? Or stick with OEM? Will poly bushings Outlast the OEM ones?
