Has anyone installed these Stealthtech speaker pods on their FZJ80? How is the color match and your overall impressions?

These pods are to suit 80 Series Landcruiser wagon and replace the pocket on both front doors. These are an ABS construction with 9mm MDF backing, upholstered in leather look vinyl to match factory trim.Pods are sold as a pair supporting 6.5" speakers.All units are 100% Australian manufacture...

No one responded, but many months later @HDJ80L posted an install on the weekend thread and they look great.

They do look good, but what do you do with the stock speaker hole? Just plan on replacing door cards at the same time I assume?

I don't think the Australian market 80s have front door speakers so, as an Australian company, factory speaker holes are not likely to be something they considered.

For sure. I just mean what is everyone else in the US doing when they buy these pods - buying some ABS door cards at the same time?

They do make more sense if you don't have any door speakers to begin with (like in my case) although they also allow to fit a much deeper/better speaker than the shallow standard speaker mount. I guess you could just use the space for the crossovers or get creative and install a 3 way system with a midrange speaker in the standard location (if you are into audio stuff)

Or a tweeter. That's what I'd do, if I still cared about car audio.
