Came down to visit this weekend, we got a lot more work done on his tub. I wanted to finish making the new supports for the fender wells, but we ran out of 220v outlets. So I'm on the bench for now, relaxing.

Got some good work done this weekend. All but one patch in awaiting final weldin g and grinding.

you're a testament to perseverance, patience and a great work ethic … it is about to pay off with a sweet ride that will last a long time … I'm about to pull the trigger on a 78 that needs those pieces under the doors, and the rear sill done, soon … if mine turns out half as good as yours I'll be very happy … nice work …
:)

This project is pretty impressive! I saw the first few posts then saw you wanted to wait until after the diesel conversion to do the frame off. I had to chuckle when I saw that you went ahead with it sooner than expected. Thats exactly how my break down started. I just wanted to see what I was working with, then one thing led to the next...etc! One of several questions...What did you use to remove the tar-like material from the bottom of the tub? I see you painted it but not sure what your prep was for it. I gotta say thanks. Your work is helping to lay the foundation for mine and others, I'm sure!

Thanks for the kind words! Glad my posts can be of help. Sorry I haven't been documenting the build as thoroughly lately. I used a scraper first then i used a wire wheel on an electric angle grinder. It was pretty horrible but I just did sections at a time until it was alll done. The grey paint is por-15 so after I got all the goo and paint and rust off, I used the marine clean and metal ready. I scuffes the por with 150 grit sand paper and then sprayed u-pol raptor liner on it which os currently drying. I also just finished the las coat of por-15 on the rest of the drivetrain which I will have installed tomorrow.

Yeah I'm glad I didn't wait and do the swap at the same time, it would been a much larger project had i decided to go that route. I figure I can fairly easily do a swap once I get everything back together.

I mounted the tub then attached the rest of the panels because I didn't want to risk putting them in the u-haul during the move (moved to Houston). Now it is home I can take it apart again and start getting the tub ready for paint.

Well I haven't posted much lately because I have been in body work hell. Dont really know what I'm doing so kind of learning as I go so I end up sanding down too much, then applying more filler, then finding little craters, rinse repeat. But its getting there.

Starting to assemble some things. I made the mistake of putting off ordering all the bolts i need so i ordered hardware and hard brake/fuel lines

Got some good work done today. My fuel and brake line material came in so i bent those up. Still waiting on the fittings. Also used a cool little trick to bring some life back into my fender flares.

Well it's been a while since I have updated this thread, kind of stopped when it became more difficult to upload pictures. I have finished the truck minus the top, doors, and sides along with some finishing work (powder coating a few things). I have attempted to get it inspected but it failed due to the aftermarket air cleaner. Will see what to do about that. These pictures are a little outdated, will take some more recent ones tonight.
