What are you going to do about that little gap between the sill and the bed floor? I'm doing this now too. The sill is suppossed to overlap the bed floor by about 3/4" and they were spot welded.

My bed floor is rusty, but I'm not going to replace it. I'm not sure it's good enough to weld to. I was thinking about adding some tabs under the sill brace piece for the floor to sit on, then weld through it to those tabs.

I was debating whether or not to include the overlap. I made the cut just ahead of it because it was rusted out. Im just gimg to weld the two pieves flush. That way protecting it from rust will be easier. Also. The guy i had make the replacement panel didnt have enough material to make the piece long enough to overlap so that pretty much made my mind up for me. He did it for free and didnt even charge me for material so i wasnt about to nitpick. And its hard to see in the picture. But he nailed the weird bend in the piece that has two different lengths. Over all im very happy with it.

You can see the gap with the piece in its final position. Its bigger than i would like but not too bad

More welding. Starting to look whole again

Finished the patching on the rear left quarter. Need to do a few more patches inside the tub and patch the under door areas then im ready to seperate the body and frame.

Been throwing around a few ideas for painting. I still have a lot of work to do before I start painting, but I want to test a few ideas. I have been experimenting with powdercoating large objects. I did part of the frame and front bumper and it turned out really well, and has held up very well so far.

I'm ordering some aluminum body filler in hopes that I will be able to powdercoat over that. I'll do some test pieces first, if it works out I will be powdercoating the fj. Fingers crossed.

Did a few more patches, and started on making the replacement panels for under the doors

Started on removing the under door section. Cancer was way worse than i thought. I decided to cut out all the rust and build a new support structure for the sheet metal. It doesnt really show in the pictures but the sheet metal under there is completely uncoated/unprotected from rust. No wonder it has disintegrated over the years. I will probably use either angle iron or square tubing for support. Leaning towards angle iron for rust prevention. I have the replacement panels trimmedup and ready to weld in but still need to finalize the support

I got tired of body work and decided to pull the body so i can start working on the frame fabrication
