I have been working on the wiring and got the 1uz started! Video linked below.

Also getting other little bits and pieces assembled. Got some new front calipers and discs and this nice little relay box for the engine relays.

Old vs new front brakes, junkyard PS reservoir and intake manifold removal trying to finish up all the wiring dead ends.

I have reached the starter at last. The plan is to connect my new power wires for the wiring harness to the starter for the cleanest installation possible. While I have the manifold off I cleaned it up a bit. Not going overboard with it but a little toothbrush/wirewheel and simple green action to freshen it up.

This is a great build and I'm following so keep up the great work! I do not understand why more people are not swapping the 1uz and 2uz. I know most people say the wiring is a hassle, but having done a 5vz-fe swap into an 80s pickup it is not that bad. I'm sending you a PM about your bell housing adapter.

I agree, the wiring is pretty straightforward and well documented and the engine fits easily with room for the factory exhaust manifolds. That being said it was altogether much more difficult than an sbc swap. I’m happy with it so far.

Tuffy box installed, i added rivnuts to the bracket so I don’t have to mess with nuts on the bottom. Also replaced the master cylinder with an 80 series master cylinder, hoping this will work better with the rear disc brakes.

While I was the junkyard harvesting a Lexus transmission for another project, I saw these gauges from an is300 and thought they are similar the 40 gauges shape, they’re also really nice. Turns out they fit into the factory hole. I’m really happy with these and I’ll be 3d printing a custom trim plate with glass.

Also forgot to mention, I installed an ARB locker in the rear and full OME suspension. Here’s a picture of the bracket setup for the rear brake proportioning valve.

I also got the power steering finished, got a resevoir from an ls400 and custom lines made. I made the return line but had a shop use the original Lexus fitting to make a custom high pressure line.

Shot of the lines for the condenser and power steering. Ac install is done short the custom line connections I’ll have to have made at a hydraulic shop.

I took my first real drive today and I really like the 1uz and OME suspension. The only issue now is the seat position, I think the reupholster added an inch or two to the seat height. That combined with the sun visors make it almost un-drivable for me so I will probably need to lower the seat in the future.

Starting to tackle little odds and ends now, the oil pan was pretty tight with the front drive shaft and I was worried it would interfere when wheeling so I am modifying it for extra clearance. I’ll have to relocate the drain plug to the other side and build the clearance part many test fits later and I have the hole finished.

I used the latest in engineering CAD (cardboard aided design) technology to make up the oil pan clearance panel. Still need to relocate the drain plug but I test fitted it and tried to flex the suspension as much as possible and now have decent clearance.
