I've been off-roading the truck and driving it to work. Taken it on a trip to Austin and a trip to McAllen. Did wel on the highway and was a blast on the trails. The carburetor struggles on the steep inclines but other than that, works great. About to take the top and doors off again and do weatherstripping/ Windows. Here are some pictures from the off-roading trips

Well I have done a lot since my last post. I painted the truck again, this time with real paint (ppg epoxy primer and single stage enamel) I have also completed the mechanical portion of the 1uz swap. I will dump lots of pictures and try to keep in chronological order. I also bought an fj60 and have done lots of work, I’ll create a separate thread on that.

I painted the sides and doors, installed weatherstripping and windows, then decided to take the truck to big bend for some off-roading and camping. Went great. The 40 performed flawlessly.

Took a break to paint my friend’s 69. He wanted medium blue so that’s what we did.

Some 3d printing projects I’ve been working on, first is a removable wire grommet for the firewall. I’ve made multiple sizes for 40 and 60. Very nice solution. Second is some custom gauge bezels I was playing with for auto meter gauges.

Time for the 1uz swap. I’m using the original 4 speed transmission and t-case. Custom adapter plate to the 1uz bellhousing, using sbc adapter plate that I originally had.

The other parts used are :
custom flywheel
Mr2 turbo pressure plate
Jeep cj5 clutch (matches input shaft gear)
Sourced correct crank bearing for input shaft
Hydraulic throw out bearing kit from summit

I had the original seats reupholstwred as well as a set from a matrix that are much more comfortable. And some pics for fun.

Finished up the steering system fab over the thanksgiving holiday, made mounting plates and brackets etc. Also cleaned up the hole in the crossmember from previous Saginaw install before I had the truck.

I needed to notch the radiator support a bit to clear the steering shaft and clean up the butchery that had been done before.
