Well I’ve got the dash completed. I used original gauges, the temp gauge seems to be working with the factory Lexus temp sender. The only thing left is to get it inspected and take it to the hydraulic shop to get the custom ac lines made. After that it will basically be “done” and will be on semi-daily duty (recently bought an fj80 and will be splitting duty between this, the 60, and the 80).

I had the 40 all loaded up for an over landing trip to Arkansas. I had an oversight. The Lexus sc400 comes with a hydraulic fan pump, similar to a power steering pump, but used to run the radiator fan. I ran mine dry and it seized half a mile from my house, so I took the 60 instead. I went to the junkyard to get the setup from an ls400, with has a mechanical fan. Pretty easy swap and costs about $40.

i also realized I could just bypass the assembly all together since I’m running an electric fan. Oh well. I got my blasting cabinet and powder coating gun going and I restored the original jack.

I’ve been driving it to work now and then and short trips to the store. A few Isaura that will be addressed soon. 1. Overheating in traffic. 1st pic is the el cheapo shroudless fan I was running on my 60 and the 40. The brushes malfunctioned on the 60 fan so I decided to upgrade both. Found this fan/shroud combo that fits well with a little massaging from the bfh around the rad outlet.

The other issue is the clutch slipping in 3rd and 4th, as well as a rattling while idling with the pedal out. I think the spacing is off, causing the clutch to never fully engage. So the transmission will be coming off and will be adjusting that. I have been doing some research and it seems like it is common as the clutch wears for the hydro TOB to require re-adjustment, which is pretty horrible considering the effort required to do so. Overall the smooth growl of the 1uz is still worth it.

Well the truck isn’t running and the fuel pump started acting up so I decided to re-do the fuel system. I will use the s10 blazer tank with in-tank pump underneath and the oem tank for a reserve.
I got a fuel pump for an sc400 and installed it into the blazer sending unit.

I also cleaned up the original sending unit for the oem tank.
