SRS/Seatbelt Lights

This is absolutely NOT ideal and I am extremely disappointed with Toyota, but my previous scenario with the lights on guaranteed my airbags wouldn't work.

I'm looking forward to their proper fix.

The SRS system has a TON of self diagnostics and error checking built in, when considering how complex the system actually is. Specifically because SRS is so important to maintaining the safety ratings of the truck. If these vehicles were at risk of unsafe conditions in an accident before a light comes on, toyota would absolutely have told us not to operate the trucks with anyone in that seat. They couldn’t afford not to.

And yet.. they only say no one in that seat once a light is on.

Having someone repair the car and get that seat working again on toyotas dime until a more permanent fix is available seems reasonable to me.

Your statement that I have highlighted is simply not true. Toyota have specifically warned owners that if their vehicle is subject to the recall, no person should sit in the front passenger seat. The recall notices clearly state that vehicles subject to recall MAY have lights on - not DO have lights on, but MAY have lights on. My 2013 LC is this case - no lights on, but subject to the recall and no remedy currently available. My dealer has confirmed that no person should use my front passenger seat and they will notify when a remedy is available.

If Toyota doesn't know how to fix my LC, I certainly wouldn't trust an indy to "fix" it.

My mistake. I’m away from my paperwork and the info I can find right now, even on toyotas site, doesn’t mention avoiding passengers.

Toyota's FAQ was updated on June 6, 2019:

It includes (bold/italics added by me):
Q2: Are there any warnings that this condition exists?
A2: If this condition has occurred, the SRS warning light will illuminate. In addition, the Front Passenger Airbag Status Indicator Light may always show “OFF”, even if there is an occupant in the front passenger seat. If you see these warning lights, you may be experiencing the condition described above. You should contact your local authorized Toyota dealer for diagnosis and appropriate repair as soon as possible.

From the same citation (emphasis mine):

Q1: What is the condition?
A1: The front passenger occupant classification system has a seatbelt tension sensor that could malfunction over time and could cause the airbag warning light and the passenger airbag “OFF” indicator to illuminate. In addition, the front passenger airbag, passenger knee airbag, and the passenger seat-mounted side airbag may be deactivated. If these airbags are deactivated, there is an increased risk of injury to the occupant in the event of a crash.

And...

Q9: My vehicle is involved in this Safety Recall, but the remedy is not yet available. Will Toyota provide a loaner vehicle until the remedy is available?
A9: To minimize risk, Toyota recommends that no passengers sit in the front passenger seat. If this recommendation is not feasible for the customer’s personal or business needs, alternative transportation may be made available.

My 2013 LC is involved in this Safety Recall. The remedy is not yet available. My dealer has confirmed that even without any warning lights present, no passengers should sit in the front passenger seat.

So... what's the question?

Correct. Toyota is offering "alternate transportation" so they certainly don't know how to fix it. To believe that some DIY fix of swapping a few parts is a safe fix is wishful thinking.

Get a replacement Camry while you're waiting for a fix and take that offroad.

I have a similar issue but one of my codes is different.

B1650 Occupant Classification System Malfunction
B1774 Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Both my driver and passenger Airbag lights randomly do one of these three things and they can change anytime throughout my drive:
1- work as normal
2- Airbag Off even with an occupant in either DS or PS - sometimes my DS says Airbag off and PS is On or vise versa.
3- no light at all (

And only rarely during any of these events do I see the airbag indicator in my gauge cluster

Anyone had a B1774 code?

I used TechSteam to test the seat senor and even with the codes I can push on either seat and see the # increase and decrease when remove weight from seat, so it appears that is working???
