Son took our 2000 LX off road. It now has a loud squeak somewhere in the front right behind the tire anytime it goes over a bump. When I push down on the front right fender it immediately squeaks, but I can't pinpoint it. Any ideas? Thanks,

Dry balljoints like to squeak. Give a look at all 4 of em, and see if the boots are torn

Ball joint it was. You win! $310 for the repair seemed a little steep. Any thoughts on that?
Replace it yourself if you know how. Cruiser outfitters has the parts you need for about $50.
You can rent a press. I did all 4 of mine in an afternoon.

Already done and bill paid. Can't complain too much. This is a 20 year old rig and probably have done less than a thousand dollars in repairs to it.
That sounds about right. I paid ~$300 to have my ball joint replaced.
Part should have been minimum $50. Labor would be 3 hours. Did they replace the whole upper? Did they do an alignment?
If they replaced the upper, the parts they used are going to be questionable at that price.

Not sure what he did, but he has always been really honest and has owned up to any issues.
$300 for a single ball joint is a little steep IMO; labor hours are pricier depending where you go... rates in Houston tend to be in the range of $80-100/hr. So maybe it took him longer than what I am thinking
