I didn't get the impression that there's much ingress there. Have never looked closely...but maybe someone wants to drop a snake camera in there. It's already too late in the day to touch vehicle here, or I'd do it m'self.

Maybe we can shrink one of those Chinese machine gun dogs down and have it patrol as sentry in the valley.
It’s just a foam block squeezed into and around the SAIS piping and pushing up against the bottom of the manifold. Plenty of little gaps for them to enlarge via chewing.

Yup. I stared at that foam piece for quite awhile yesterday, there are lots of openings underneath for critters to squeeze through. I thought about making up some sort of barrier out of 1/4" hardware cloth, but it's just to complicated to get all the cracks sealed up. Argh...

I wonder if there's a hi-temp version of this stuff that we could use to seal it up?

You might also try stuffing steel wool in any gaps you find. I've heard that keeps mice from entering holes in houses, since they can't chew it. Just don't use SOS pad covered in dry soap

Yes, from the RV side, copper wool or mesh is frequently used for this reason. Copper so it doesn't rust long term.

I have used steel wool with good success, but I figured it wouldn't last long in there, would leave a rusty mess. I can get stainless steel wool, but not in time, needed to get it back together. Might pull it again this fall before the cold season.

Well, I've pulled the heavy Oliver trailer 10,000 miles now with the 2021 LC, and would like to get the transmission oil tested at Blackstone. I can't seem to find where to take a sample, though. There's no dipstick, and I've read about an overflow drain (which I haven't looked for yet), and other posts saying the 8-speed doesn't have an overflow drain. Anyone have a photo of where to check? I don't want to pull a plug and drain the whole system accidentally! Thanks!

Just crossed 100k so its time to do the water pump/tensioner/idler job. Is the general consensus to replace the fan support bearing while I'm in there? Or am I ok to let it ride?

Was always rec'd on the 100's when doing it + fan clutch...so I'd say so. Why not...would hate to have it all come undone 20k miles later.

The over flow in on the passenger side of the tranny.
You could also snake a line through the fill hole and down into the pan to get a few ounces out. Its on the driver side of the tranny and right next to the exhaust and Cat so be cautions not to burn yourself or melt any plastic tools.

Something line this should do the trick.

Mine was just starting to make noise around 150k, so it could be said that you are a little early, but you’ll also have the whole front of the engine apart and it’ll be a lot easier to get to with the other work.

This is a very stupid question and I checked the manual, but I can't find it. In my 2020 LX 570, where can I find the tire pressure display? In my old 2013 Land Cruiser, I could cycle through the display in front of the driver to the tire pressure display, which would show the tire pressures for all 5 drivers. But I haven't been able to find that in the LX in either manual or screwing around with steering wheel controls and the infotainment system. Any know how to do this?

Use the Left/Right arrows to get into vehicle info system and the up/down arrows to see the tire pressures. (in center info gauge cluster). should be there. lmk if you need more help and I'll search for photos.

Found it, thanks. I hadn’t scrolled down within the screen.

Thank you! I'd have never found that fill plug. Now I have to actually find it for real and take a sample. I went ahead and got the Blackstone pump to use. It uses their sample bottles as a reservoir, so no extra handling of fluids or cleaning of bottles. Easy peasy on the engine oil. We'll see how the transmission goes.

Thanks again!

Had my battery disconnected for several days while doing the typical radiator/water pump refresh on the engine. When I reconnected, I made sure everything was plugged in so no codes. Then I unlocked the steering and flushed the PS fluid, which required several lock-to-lock turns of the steering wheel. Did this prior to starting the engine, truck was up on stands in the front, wheels removed.

Back to driving the truck now. When I put it in reverse, I get a message on the bottom of the screen "System is Initializing", and there are no yellow guide lines on the reverse camera image that track with the steering.

So my SQOD: Does this indicate I need to do a zero-point calibration on the steering?

Not fully not really. Put it in reverse turn wheel full right then full left. Repeat a few times until you see the lines pop up again.
Ok I'll try that, thanks!

I have always just started driving the vehicle normally and at some point soon realize the lines are back.

I am looking for a place to hide a battery for my dash cam. Is there room behind the dash, or behind one of the rear side wheelwell covers? Stupid question because I originally thought I would fit it under the passenger seat, but I can't find any room there. Dimensions are 6.10 x 8.46 x 1.38 in, but I would also need to have room to run wiring to it. TIA!
