My windshield wipers chatter like crazy to the point that having automatic wipers is more of a curse than a blessing. I'm wondering if anyone on here has similar issues and if so, how they've gone about fixing them. I was thinking maybe a windshield sealant/coating would help lubricate things. Anyone else have this experience/have any fixes they recommend?

I've only ever run OEM blades and have had the same issue with both sets I've put on in my ownership. Trying to remember how long (if at all) they worked without chattering but it's been a while since I've replaced them.
When you say "OEM Blades" do you mean the ones that you get as US dealers that have the sombrero on them? Those are not actually OEM wipers, but cheap junk that dealers sell. Actual OEM blades with the OEM replacement inserts work very well.

There's a few threads on this...here is a post with some pictures...

And a much longer thread if you are bored...

+1 on the threads above. BLUF - There's a difference between the OEM wiper inserts you can order and the "sightline" blades dealers have on hock.

If you want further rec's, boy oh boy - buckle up! I am a fan of certain glass coatings (Gtechniq G1, G4, G6) all around. While others here are most definitely NOT. If you don't know what blades are on your rig, get some new inserts (assuming the arms are OEM) and see how that treats you.

I've had this issue from time to time with some blades. Seems to go away after we get a bunch of rain, though it's probably just the rubber getting broken in a bit.

Interesting... Yea, it's been awhile but I believe I've had the cheap junk. I ordered some parts from partsouq and threw some OEM replacement inserts in. I'll check those threads you linked and educate myself. Now I'm wondering if I'll have to order other parts to get these inserts to work.

Edit: Looks like what I ordered should work but they arrive today so I'll know for sure soon.

No coatings, factory glass and wiper blades/inserts, zero chatter so far for me.

I wonder whether polishing the glass to remove anything built up on it could benefit you..

I also wonder whether it’s a case of worn out arms, pivot bushings, linkages, or similar. Potentially an issue if you live where wiper use is more common than other regions?

Polishing the glass is a good idea.

Part of the chatter issue (and the reason I have a partsouq order arriving), is I'm 90% sure that a dealer bent the driver's side arm, and then bent it back. My wife complained that it looked weird when she picked it up and they "adjusted" it. Hindsight being 20/20, I should have asked for more information but I didn't think much of it at the time. Long story long, I've got a new driver's side arm coming as it has been the main culprit ever since they laid hands on it, but I have noticed the passenger side chatter occasionally as well.

The vehicle only has around 85k miles on it, so I don't think it's a use/wear issue, but if the new arm, correct OEM blades, and a windshield polish don't fix the issue then I'll dig deeper.

Makes sense. And chatter on one side can absolutely induce chatter on the other via the linkage they share.

Here's one....feels like anytime I drive the 200 at night, someone, multiple people, will flash me as though I have my brights on, and I don't. Then they hit me with theirs, and even after flashing them, they leave em on. Forces me to turn mine on and show them. Anyone else?

16+ with the LED headlamps? Have a lift? Have you added the adjustable link to your rear ride height sensor?

Factory headlight aim assumes your front end is about an inch lower than the rear. If you’ve lifted (you have) and the truck is now level you’ll need to adjust the default position down a bit.

I’ve only had this issue when towing. My ‘13 has the manually headlight aiming dial so I just point them down a bit. I think your rig has auto height adjustment though so you’d be ok when loaded if your default aim was right

is your 13 and 08 light adjuster same?

i need to point mine down after lift

Yea, an assist '18. I'll look into adjusting when I get home tomorrow, or can attend to it this weekend. I'll assume there's some links to be found somewhere.

Scroll to the conversation about the TJM adjustable link, or other home-made options.

Basically your rig has a sensor on the rear suspension to adjust the headlights and their sharp beam cutoff for changes in rear ride height due to load. But only the rear.. so it applies an up or down adjustment to the beam to keep it in the right place even if the rear is sagging 3" from a load of firewood or whatever.

Since you lifted the truck the front and rear came up, raising the beam by itself, but also the truck sees the extra rear ride height and thinks it needs to aim the headlights up even more because it is imaging just the rear of the truck being raised.

So your very bright headlights are aiming very high.

The adjustable link allows you to reset things to zero so the load-compensating headlights work as intended.

Lots in that thread about it.

After buying an 80 Series, I find myself driving the 200 less but appreciating its refinement more. Is that normal? Am I a monster?

You savage man. Straight to mud-jail with your 200 series thread heresy!!!

Funny way how things work out. I have had way too many LC. Tried buyin 2 80s over the years (when people couldn't give them away for 4-7K) and failed. My go to is my 60 and 62. Love my 100s also.

As much as 60/62 would be my only LC if I had to have one, I find myself driving the 200 all the time.

I bought my 43 and my 200 within a few months of each other. Even after putting the 43 away during the winter, I’ve put nearly the same number of miles on each.

I agree with your analysis - drive the 200 less, but appreciate it and it’s “modern” amenities more.
